It's because of this that I feel the OFT needs to start properly knowing ROM compatibility rather than hacking ROMs to suit the OFT. It seems overly complicated if you're not familiar and with more and more people editing it's only going to lead to more bricked ECUs. Surely just basing the compatibility on the ROM series (last letter) should be adequate?

Haha thanks for your concern steve, but I am certain that I am using the correct definitions. I've edited and flashed and reflashed my ecu many times xD With your knowledgeable posts as help of course!

The symptoms you describe are of a definition that is incorrect. The consequence of editing the rom using an incorrect definition can range from poor running at best, to bricking at worst. Double check your definitions, checksum correction would not change table values at all - sits in a completely different part of the rom.

weird experience for me just now..

after doing some reading i figured id try the OTS stage 1 93octane tune with the Ultra94 thats in my tank right now, flashed the ecu, did the turn key on off thing about 5 times, started the car (cold start) and let it run for about 5 minutes,
got in the car and gave it just a little blip of the throttle, and when it came back down to idle the idle dipped around 4-500 and sounded like the engine was gonna die, i let it run for a bit longer, tried to move the car forward and the moment it was under any load it started to die (mind you i generally bog a bit on takeoff)
im reflashing right now back to my stage 1 91 tune

was this occurrence due to me flashing the ecu while the engine was cold ? or is it the fuel ?
ive only gone through 1/8th+ of a tank of the 94 since filling it up last night, but considering reflashing resets everything it shouldnt matter how long ive run the fuel right ?
i had set up the datalogging before even starting the car so i could see what was going on during my drive (maybe that datalog is worth sharing to the pros?)

BTW the flash file when viewed on the OFT when selecting which one i wanted to upload, had an * at the very end of the selection box.. not sure what that was about, it was the correct file for my ecu 700C, but figured id share that as well.

mine did this when i flashed to the latest tune too. it learned it self out of the system after a few hundred miles. i would guess it has to do with fuel trims, as if i flash with my updated maf scale, it dosnt happen.

So i am new to this whole tuning talk and i have been reading this thread and many others on the forums. the more i read the more questions i come up with.. So i was wondering if someone could tell me which file i should use to flash when i actually purchase the OFT.
I have a 2015 FRS RS1, only mods will be GrimSpeed Cold air, Open Flash Header, running 93 oct fuel.
I understand that each car is different etc etc, but my question is which file should be loading on my first go round ?
sorry for the newb question, but i am just learning about all this and there is soooo much info it can be tuff to make sense of it all.
Thanks in advance!
