What options do I have for tire sizes if I drop the FR-S 2 in. with KW V1's?
I am looking for 18inch rims.

Lowering it two inches? What are your goals for the car?

How wide of a wheel are you looking for? It's impressive to see the tires some people have managed to stick under their car.
This thread, posts 2 and 3, will give you some idea about what fits on these cars, specifically looking at wheel width and offset.
This one kind of shows the upper limit on tire size. Because some people need 265's all around.
This one has examples of stanced cars and their wheels and tires. Not my thing, but if that's what you're going for they've got the info.

You're going to find more track focused answers in this thread, not much info on slamming and what will fit. Those other links will be more useful for you.

If you buy coilovers and pair them with the rear mounts that give you 2" of extra travel, but you only lower the car 1", will that have any ill effect on the coilover?

IMO yes....with a 35mm drop you're already into the bumpstops at rest and having a soft spring means that you're using up what little compression travel you have left very easily. You can cut the bumpstops down, but you still don't have much travel and when you do hit that really big bump, it's gonna hurt without the progressiveness of the bumpstop softening that blow.

It's tempting to see low spring rates on a big drop and think "hey i can lower my car 35mm AND have a soft ride" but it doesn't work like that in reality.

My alternative was ST coilovers. What are your thoughts on those? I've seen where a lot of people are happy with them. But it's nice to get the opinion of someone knowledgeable in that area.

You just reduce the amount of droop travel available. Raceseng and others offer a 1" rear mount now and I'd probably buy that instead.

If you want more than an inch of drop I would recommend coilovers, and those are a solid choice on the lower end.

Do the Raceseng shock top extenders fit with oem sized springs (ie, RCE Yellows)?

If they do, would it be a bad idea to pair them with say Group-N upper strut mounts for the front?

Hey guys, I am currently running Eibach lowering springs (The ones that only do a 1" drop) Next year (no rush here) I would like to upgrade to a set of coilovers that will provide me with a similar, if not more aggressive drop (maybe 1.5 at most) however, I want these coils to provide me with a comfortable and compliant ride.
  • I will not track my car; we have no tracks.
  • I will not race my car on the streets, its illegal *duh* and we only have straight roads full of pot holes.

I want the car to retain its stock handling, I just want a lower ride height and if POSSIBLE a more compliant ride.

What exists out there? I will be happy to hear I can increase my handling dynamics while also achieving a less bumpy ride than my stock/spring combo but I would be happy with stock capability and a nicer ride.

Redundant, but I just wanted to get that point across. Imagine I want this to be more of a GT car than a track car.

Installed the Perrin rear Swaybar... Also installed the Subframe bushings earlier in the week.

First impressions:

The rear end is more stable now for sure. However, snap oversteer has returned, and my VSC engages MUCH sooner than before...

I'll have to see how it does at the Autox in two weeks with everything turned off and pushing the car 100%

Note: For those interested, I did notice an NVH increase with the subframe bushings. Mostly a sharp feeling in mah tooshy over certain terrain/bumps

What would be recommended camber set up for a car that is a dd , with occasional canyon carving duties. The car has st coilovers set to recommended height range, cusco front strut bar, cusco lower rear control arms, and will have 17x9 wheels in the front with 235/45/17 potenza re760, and 17x9.5 with 245/45/17 potenza re760 in the rear. I prefer neutral handling and grip compared to oversteer!

Installed the B8 + Tarmac springs today, first impression is very positive. The ride seems to not have gained too much harshness, in fact its still quite comfortable. I need to get an alignment to correct any possible issues with toe angles before I really throw the car around and get a true test of the suspension.
