I just want the brakes, wheels, and aero. If they offer these parts a la carte, I'll probably buy them individually and look to the aftermarket for everything else.

I'll tune it my self. If the STI ends up being really much better, then I could trade.

If the premium model comes in at the 25-26k range, the most they could get for an STI would be 35k and even at that price, I would expect the limited trim equipment to be included. Since previous STI products have all included brake upgrades, suspension upgrades, larger & lighter wheels, and some unique cosmetic pieces in addition to the power upgrade I can't see them adding a factory CF roof or hood which would be over a grand just by itself.
One carbon fiber roof piece won't hurt the wallet too much IMO. If you're changing out the steel roof for a lighter one yourself, it takes a lot of effort to remove the original and make sure the new one fits properly. For the OEM, they just have to pluck it off the assembly line before the stock roof is spot welded to the chassis, and epoxy a CF/something else roof. I'd expect the end cost to the consumer to be far less than what it would cost to replace in the aftermarket.

Besides, CF roof increases bragging rights factor :P

The STI verison is factory nice ... but an Intake plus exhaust and lighter wheels ... and you'll be halfway there even without a tune.

What about aluminum roof? I would be happy with that along with trunk.

I plan on keeping this car indefinitely. When it's paid off, then it's Boxster or Cayman time.

just getting an OEM quality roof panel would cost over $1k for the part. That is probably $950 more than a stamped piece of steel.

besides a cf roof would probably have to be riveted by hand opposed to a machine spot welding which makes it even more costly.

Me too, I actually hope they take this route but we'll see. Stamping aluminum costs around the same as stamping a piece of steel, but the material cost is a little higher, and it has to be joined with rivets, epoxy, or both.

Epoxy alone might do. I mean, the cost of paying a shop to swap your roof is something like 2000 dollars or something, in a factory they could do it for much less since they don't need to put covers over the interior, cut the original one out, etc.
