The wires to the led triangle and it blew a fuse. I'm not sure what the problem is or if I'm wiring it improperly. Can someone justify and help me by taking a picture of the wire they tapped it to.

A bunch of helpful information I posted here and pics and info in the links mentioned here ...did you look in this...still not helpful?:

But you probably want the vbar to stay on and the triangle to light up only when braking, which is how I have it. Unfortunately, the Valenti bumper lights come wired now with the vbar and triangle wired together internally. I discussed this in a couple threads like this one: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=35235&page=2

In that one, I got this helpful comment:

"To get the V and the triangle to light up separately, you'd have to open it up and slightly fix the wiring inside. You'll have to unsolder the wire (or just cut it) that connects the V and the triangle, then move the wire from the flasher function and solder it to the triangle. So short answer is it's definitely possible, but will require soldering."

A friend helped me do this and it was pretty easy, although it did require soldering. I wish I had taken pics along the way but unfortunately I didn't think of it. This is what we did:

(1) Unscrew the 8 screws or so on the back and open it up.

(2) Cut the little blue (I think the color was...not the little black) wire running from the triangle to the vbar...leave that little wire attached to the vbar...so cut it right at the triangle. (You can leave the little black ground wire running from triangle to vbar.)

(3) Cut the red wire off the triangle...this one was doing the flasher function.

(4) Solder the red wire to the blue wire (that we just cut) running from the vbar...heat shrink over the solder.

That's it. Now the blue wire running outside the housing powers the triangle and the red wire powers the vbar. So I connected the triangle to the brakes and the vbar to the running lights.

That's how I did it...disconnecting the flasher function. You might still be able to use the flasher function by just leaving the red wire as is...and just solder a NEW wire to the little blue wire that you cut coming from the vbar. You would then have to feed the new wire out of the housing....I'm not 100% sure there's space for that but it might work.

I hope that helps. I think it looks much better and cleaner wired up this way with the vbar and triangle separate. Let me know if you have any questions.

I can't decide what would be best with my red Tom's, smoke or the red/chrome. My car is black. I was thinking the red/chrome only because the smoke doesn't seem that smoked, and with them off they kinda have the ricer eBay look, at least I get that from the pictures. Does anyone know if the red/chrome lights look similar to the red on the Tom's? Also, besides Valenti's, what are the other aftermarket options for the reverse light?

My car came with the clear reverse light when I bought it, I don't think it looks too bad with the Tom's.

Yeah, not the light I would have chosen, but I don't dislike it enough to really do anything about it.

I bought some smoke tint vinyl. Going to try and tint the reverse light and front markers.

Many thanks for the tips and information, wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise!

does your triangle light up when pressing on brakes with the f1 flash?
and does it also turn on when fogs are switched on?

I think I'll be using your guide as reference

I made it so that it comes on with the brake but acts normal, as I did not want the F1 flash. It can be done though.

The V is on whenever the lights are on, so since fogs are on only when lights are on, then yes it's on when fogs are on. If there is some way to make fogs come on without normal lights then I'm unaware of it and haven't tried.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I was asking if the triangle and f1 function turned on with the fogs on since you made it only turn on with your brakes when fogs arent on.

Cool! I think thats what i want but retain the f1 flashing
