I just installed them and for whatever reason I do not have the same color wires referenced in the ModBargains DIY video or any of the DIY threads or the instructions.

Here's how I did my wires:

I got this:

Anybody know how to make it so the upside down triangle doesn't light up without braking? I've seen it done 2 diff ways in the ModBargains videos.

I think one of the wiring options makes it so the triangle AND vbar only light up when you brake. But you probably want the vbar to stay on and the triangle to light up only when braking, which is how I have it. Unfortunately, the Valenti bumper lights come wired now with the vbar and triangle wired together internally. I discussed this in a couple threads like this one: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=35235&page=2

In that one, I got this helpful comment:

So short answer is it's definitely possible, but will require soldering.
A friend helped me do this and it was pretty easy, although it did require soldering. I wish I had taken pics along the way but unfortunately I didn't think of it. This is what we did:

(1) Unscrew the 8 screws or so on the back and open it up.

(2) Cut the little blue (I think the color was...not the little black) wire running from the triangle to the vbar...leave that little wire attached to the vbar...so cut it right at the triangle. (You can leave the little black ground wire running from triangle to vbar.)

(3) Cut the red wire off the triangle...this one was doing the flasher function.

(4) Solder the red wire to the blue wire (that we just cut) running from the vbar...heat shrink over the solder.

That's it. Now the blue wire running outside the housing powers the triangle and the red wire powers the vbar. So I connected the triangle to the brakes and the vbar to the running lights.

That's how I did it...disconnecting the flasher function. You might still be able to use the flasher function by just leaving the red wire as is...and just solder a NEW wire to the little blue wire that you cut coming from the vbar. You would then have to feed the new wire out of the housing....I'm not 100% sure there's space for that but it might work.

I hope that helps. I think it looks much better and cleaner wired up this way with the vbar and triangle separate. Let me know if you have any questions.

I wound up not cutting the Red wire that connected to Orange/Black. I just unplugged it and used a vampire tap? instead of soldering to the cut Blue wire, the one between the light bar and triangle.

For those of you that have Green and Green/Yellow wires instead of the Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black wires for your taillights, here's how I did mine, with Blue to Green and Red to Red:

Turned out great!

Many thanks for the tips and information, wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise!

The lights are on in the second pic (a bit hard to tell sorry hah), I wired it so the vbar only lights up when I brake. I'll take some pics with the vbar on when I get a chance.

awesome thank you so much! just trying to see if the difference in the lighting is a big one between the tom boomerangs and the v bar.

It's a pretty good match, imo. Here are some more pics as promised, should be easier to see the lighting this time
