You might as well leave the site now then.

Well the obvious one is that the price was from the site and not Toyota or Subaru. Features have changed as the original statements had very few features/comfort items, no cd player, etc. Toyota has said 200hp forever so except for the extra 100lbs or so of weight I'm not sure how the actual performance figures fell far short. They are exactly what I expected.

The development life cycle also went on longer than expected as Subaru has not made an engaging car fir about 10 years and Toyota hasn't for 17 years. Tara and others talked about how badly the early examples sucked. Longer development time adds tithe cost. It's priced right with its competitors. Many here have said 20k will never happen for years now.

Also, the car isn't quick, the tires ARE from a Prius and i've yet to hear anybody defend the cars interior quality as something to be excited about.

200HP NA is perfectly fine with me. And you must have missed a lot of comments about the interior. It blows the similar priced cars away like the horrible (although improved in 2013 but still shit) interior of the GC.

For $20k, what other new cars are you going to buy that are as sporty? A base Veloster? Perhaps a mid-level Focus?

As far as the interior goes - I think it's pretty decent for the price. It's a very typical Subaru interior so it's not great, but it sure beats the Miata's interior. (I use the Miata because it is a sports car at a similar price to the BRZ.)

Speaking of the Miata - that's a car that doesn't even have 200 hp, yet it's an amazingly fun sports car.

The tires may be used on a Prius in Japan, but they are still Summer-only GT tires that are also used on Mercedes, BMW, and Audi cars, so the 'LOL Prius tire' argument doesn't exactly hold water. Are they great tires? No, but what car at this price point (let alone $20k) has 'great' tires?

I guess my main reason for calling him a troll is that his expectations are extremely unrealistic. What better car would he get at $20k? Or at $25k, what is a better sports car? Does he want a Cayman or a 1-Series at $25k?

Take it with a grain of salt.

Went to Subaru dealership today (different one than the one I preordered at) and asked about the car and pricing. Salesman said 25 and change for premium and roughly 27 and change for limited.

Anyone expecting this car for $20k is living in the past. Get with the times, people! The dollar sucks, so we pay more. Doesn't make the car overpriced. Our money just ain't what it used to be.

No one who has been following on the BRZ on here really expected $20k for the BRZ. Has always been $24-25k. Looks like it will hit the higher end. It was the FRS side that thought $20k.

About what I'd pay too.

Edit:

Wouldn't Subaru read this and increase the price?
