Toronto insurance is the highest. Especially Markham (where I am at currently) and Richmond Hill. When I moved from North York to Markham, my insurance went up and this is due to the higher number of insurance claims in the Markham/Richmond Hill area.
I think we're paying just over $1000 for the BRZ in Markham through TD, and that's with the spouse's alumni benefits and we're both close to 40 years old, we've paid our dues of high premiums!! |

I'm downtown (Yonge/Bloor), 32 and I pay $198. The car is classified as a "pleasure vehicle" since I walk to work, although there's no limit on the amount of KMs I can drive per year.
I'm with Aviva but I deal with a broker. $300 deductible. I have no tickets/accidents on file, although I did just get a ticket for 20 over (and 3 points) this past April that I'm sure I'm sure is going to screw me over somehow. For whatever it's worth, my 2004 (8years old) M3 was $223/month, so it's definitely not the car that's jacking up your rates.

25, no tickets or accidents, $990/year with full coverage.
The insurance rates on here are painful. :o Edit: central California Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2 |

27, no tickets, just had a not-at-fault accident. $346 for 2 fr-s's, was $138 for one fr-s pre-move (house in Kitchener, ON), then jumped to $177 for one after a move (condo closer to downtown Kitchener).
Only difference I can think of is that I'm married and female. Definitely where you live plays a big role in this as well. |

that seems a little high but not overly unreasonable from my experience. I paid over 400 a month on a 2003 lancer with no tickets when i was 20 and i lived just south of barrie, it was more than the car payment.
now i'm 26 1 ticket and pay 100/mth for the FRS in barrie |

FWIW, Toronto isn't the only place with high insurance rates. I'm paying $270/month in Calgary for full comprehensive with $500 deductible, $1 million liability, full same-class rental car coverage (if anything happens to mine, I'll get a rental of the same class while mine's being fixed or serviced, so another sports coupe, I guess).
I am 19 though, if that makes a difference. |

Ya this all makes sense, insurance seems over priced but after doing some shopping around really didnt find much. Thanks for the comparisons. I didnt think this would blow up like it did

1. Where you live (sometimes, this could be the biggest determining factor) 2. Safety Rating of vehicle (I've been noticing for the first time ever newer vehicles are actually getting cheaper to insure than their predecesors and that is 100% to do with the reduction of anticipated accident benefit payout claims) 3. Your OWN experience/rating (this includes years licensed, infractions, accidents/claims and continuous insurance history) 4. Demographic of typical purchaser (IE. try insuring a 2001 Honda Civic and wonder why it's more than a 2013 A8L) 5. Use of the vehicle (Pleasure, Commute, Business, driving 10K per year or 50K per year) |

Postal code is by far the biggest factor if you have a clean record. If I get quotes online using my address vs my mom's address (in Guelph) the price difference is massive, easily $100 less if I lived in Guelph vs my current address.

insurance
will be announced shortly, there will be 15% rate reduction in the next 2 years. 8% this year, 7% next year. typically the govt ignored all the anti fraud measures urged by the industry . so you get less money but your expenses are not reduced. look for availability problems coming up. sheesh just had a guy in with a bad record, 2008 ford ranger - just under 12000. a year. makes me feel good paying what I do.
biggest factors are postal code, # of tickets, # of years driving, age. tickets will kill you!!! |
