So I brought my watch to Omega to fix and it came back with more scratches than I sent it with, even on the sapphire crystal! I've heard of horror stories and I guess I'm another statistic. Watch was serviced and not polished after I was told that it would be. On the brightside, all the hands lined up perfectly.

I tolerated the crystal because at least the hands were better, but when I noticed a long scratch on the lug, I knew I had to take it back. Got an email a few days after taking it back and they said they won't replace the crystal because it already had scratches. Yeah...ok.

Fast forward to me picking it up and not only was it not polished, but even more scratched up! The rep that helped me last time wasn't sure what to do, but the asst mgr decided to take me on. Since this is my second trip back that I shouldn't have had to make, I decided to drop the smiles and be quite blunt with how I was not going to accept a watch in this condition after it was serviced. She kept trying to tell me that there's nothing that she could do and decided to help ring someone else up before she was done taking care of me. Yeah, that's not a good way to represent your brand. I'm not looking to have my ass kissed, but this needed to be made right. Not only should I have had my issues addressed and taken care of, but I shouldn't have been left waiting while someone was being rung up. I wanted to cause a bit of a scene, but I went with the honey method. Lot's of good it did me...none. I know for a fact that Omega has a lot of discretion on the courtesy repairs they complete and I could've gotten a new crystal and polish for the screw up. I had to practically beg them to get it polished when they should have been apologizing and asking me how they could make things right. Now I have to make another long drive out. 6 hours of my time wasted on their mess and they won't do a thing for me to make up for it.

Filling out their survey when I get the watch back is going to be FUN. I can't wait.

Oof-ta! Personally I'd be on the phone with corporate with names, service dates, etc. and raising hell.

Note to self:

If I ever buy anything fancy, and have to have it serviced, I will make a point of photographing the condition in their boutique as I am bringing it in to them for service.

It's funny my fanciest watch that I bought new was the Tissot I posted here. First one I got had a bad crown, brought it back the same day and the manager went out of his way to get me a replacement in 2 days. No paperwork, lots of embarrassed apologies.

The stories of apathetic dealers on the high end range piss me off, especially when the service on the entry level for me has been very good.

So in the end there was no polish done or crystal replacement?

Is this an authorized dealer that carries Omega in addition to others? Or an Omega only boutique?

There's no watchmaker on site and since it's an Omega Boutique, they have to send it to a Swatchgroup facility in Seattle.

They spent 10 minutes trying to tell me that they only took of the caseback to repair my watch...wtf?

At the end, they manager of the service center said that they'll polish the case as a courtesy and I'm like that doesn't cover the time spent going back and forth for something that should've been taken care of before I got the call to pick up my watch after being serviced the first time. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks for it to be polished.

Edit: I simply can't fathom Omega sending out a watch that was just repaired in the condition it was. Hell, I still don't know what was wrong to begin with. But to tell me that the watch was repaired without taking out the movement(that was the original excuse for the lack of polishing) is simply bullshit when I know the hands were misaligned to begin with and came back perfectly applied. It's like the only service request that mattered was the one where it was sent back to fix their mistakes and not how it should've been done right the first time.

Originally, I was told that it would go in for a full service and would come back looking like new, as well as having another 2 years of warranty for the work. At this point, I don't even know if there was a full service because the other two things turned out not to be true.

I spoke to the manager of the Boutique this morning and it was a completely different experience. No promises were made on the crystal, but she at least gave me the impression of being interested in making things right. I told her that I don't expect a free crystal, but that there's a place where we could meet between being comped and full cost of replacement. I also mentioned that the whole thing has me a bit soured on the experience and that it makes me question whether or not I want to get the Mrs an Omega for our anniversary, which I was planning.

Personally, I think it should be comped because that's how you spread brand loyalty and that's worth more than the price of a crystal, but just as importantly, because of all the time spent to have this taken care of after the initial screw up. If it isn't, well, there are lot's of places I can get my watch serviced with more care and plenty of watches out there.

Thanks for listening to me rant...haha.

Manager just called and said that they're offering to split the cost of the crystal($800), polish it, and overnight it to my office so that I don't have to go on a 3 hour excursion to pick up the watch. Good enough for me.

With my luck, the bezel will come back misaligned since I'm assuming that they need to pop it off to polish the case.

$90 kennith cole
I have small wrists. This one has a large face but transitions well. Low profile with slight curve so it hugs the wrist. Sport band is better in feel than $300 watches and their rubber bands. Retro simple look was just to my liking. Would have spent triple. Im no watch connoisseur but this makes me happy.
