that manual mileage est worries me a bit.
that is pretty much what i get now and i am in a bigger car with a bigger motor that is boosted on a safe tune (ie: bit richer then it really needs to be).

but if those estimates are anything like they have been already, they are low. the estimates for my cars are about 4/5 mpg lower then what i can get without even trying.

Excluding the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and smart cars, which clearly have different design goals, for a rear wheel drive car the automatic is competitive with the most fuel efficient cars on the market. The manual is also in the ballpark of other rear wheel drive cars such as the Miata, Genesis Coupe, and Mustang. Sure front wheel drive can return higher MPG estimates when designed for slower 0-60 acceleration, but a similarly modest performance vehicle like the Civic Si again suggests the ratings on this car are reasonable compared against its most likely competitors.

Make that 33mpg.

Buy the manual and shift with precision every single time?

Or allocate more expense towards gas? <_<

I see you have an 08 Civic Si.

Are you happy with the gas mileage? Because almost everything about this car is better for fuel economy than your Civic.

It's been explained a million times, EPA test is bad for manual transmissions.

I think 25 mpg mixed is definitely doable. My dad gets 24 avg mpg in his Evo X MR. But of course, he does mostly highway and doesn't push it much.
I usually average around 20 mpg highway with my Evo X MR. I must drive a bit more spiritedly than your dad

Yeah, I have a feeling he watches that econo-meter the whole time he's driving. He has OCD when it comes to saving money. But then sometimes he'll just randomly floor it and take a corner as fast as he can.

I'm crossed on the subject... with only 200 hp 150 ft lbs and DI I expect the car to score significantly higher than its competitors who have turbo's, larger engines and more power (100+ hp, 100+ ft lbs!). Then again, it's flush with the Miata but that isn't saying much, the MZR has since been dropped in favor of the skyactiv. All speculation until the official figures come out and until we see some user data.

Most important. Lotus Elise, rated what 22/26? Real world gets more like 30+. JC08 was 30mpg, which has a lot of stops and idling, so I think most people will get around 30 average.

mpg, especially city, is more about the driver, I suspect some people will be able to eek out 40+mpg hehe.

Maybe consider a more efficient car, not a sports car, if you want above average fuel economy.
I will be going form a car that ges 5l/100km EVERY tank to this... Without one word of complaint.
