I will have the rest of the uel kit I ordered here tomorrow. I will not be starting the install till Thursday though. I dought you are willing to wait that long for my take on it. As well I have quite a few other things to install and build for that car, been waiting on the kit to get here as that will take up the most room.

Yup. I had crap numbers with a gt28 on the stock block. Currently running 350/275 on 91 with @FullBlown's 9:1 engine build. FWIW 350 feels quite excellent with how light of a car it is. I certainly wouldn't want a larger turbo with this 2L.

I went for FullBlown's built block w/ lower compression pistons so we could safely shove more boost. 353/275 @ 16psi were the numbers I saw on 91. It's true the stock clutch can't handle that power. I've had both the exedy stage 1 and CM FX300 which have no issues with these power levels. The automatic trans is certainly fine at these power levels as well.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Really helps. I see you live in Palo Alto, where did you have your work done for the built motor and turbo? Installing a built motor sounds scary but the turbo seems doable with a partner. So I'm in theory looking at around 10k in parts for around 350-400 rwhp.. Seem right?
Ever thought of installing a water methanol injection system? Since gas is terrible and the closest e85 station is in San Jose (I live in Berkeley), I'm looking at alternatives. |
