letter in mail from toyota before first payment due saying rate was dropping to 2.5%

works for me, the money is better collecting where it sits than paying upfront.

3.9% through Subaru Motor Finance. Frankly I'm surprised I got approved at all...let alone with a relatively low APR like that considering my short credit history.

My history includes one small personal loan my folks had me take out when I was in high school in order to build credit, and I've only had my two credit cards for 2-3 months. No other loans at all. Also, I've only been at my current job for about 3 months, although I had my last job for 3 years. I suppose the biggest thing working in my favor was that I was putting down a sizable down payment ($15,000).

The salesman I was working with at the dealer said my score itself was Tier 1 but my short history would make getting a loan tricky...and he was right. 6 banks in a row said no >_>

My dealer got me 1.79 for 72mo through BMO Harris. I work at a dealer as well and they always have ridiculously good rates, but the stipulation is that you have had a previous loan through them.

2.9% through Subaru. Had I waited one more month, I could have gone through my credit union and gotten 2.75% Had 0% for 60 months on my Cobalt SS with no money down. Put money down on the BRZ and I got 2.9%. Oh well, monthly car payments didn't really change and my insurance went down, so I'm good with it.

I amend my previous post. I was originally quoted 3.9% APR over 60 months with Subaru Motor Finance (Chase bank) over the phone when I put in my order with Ramsey Subaru in NJ. Today I went to the dealer today to pick up the car and do the paperwork, and when they showed the extended warranty packages, the Titanium package includes dent/ding and rim/wheel protection.

When I asked about the "Titanium" package and what it covers exactly, the finance guy said he'd see what he can do to reduce the rate and make it a bit more attractive. What made the Titanium package appealing (once he suggested that he could knock down the rate) is that it also covers aftermarket tires and rims, and there's no deductible for work done.

He ended up knocking down the APR to 2.99% over 63 months, so my payments ended up being just over $300/mo. My theory is that if I hadn't made any noises about the Titanium I wouldn't have gotten the offer of the reduced rate, and if the Titanium warranty didn't cover aftermarket rims/wheels I don't think I'd have gotten it. But I'm glad I was able to get a reduced rate even though I'm paying more per month than originally quoted because of the extra protection. Still not bad.

I got mine for 60 months and 1.84% and that's straight through with Subaru. They beat my previous bank and my credit union APR.
