6MT. 30-40 mile commute everyday from home to work, vice versa. 60% highway/ 40% city. Stock tires/wheels. OEM Subaru oils (recently changed as well). Shifting at around 2.5k - 3k; never above 3.5k. 91 Chevron Gas. According to the dash board, I get about 28.3 mpg. It's weird that sometimes I only get like 250 - 270 miles to a 9 gallon tank and there are other times when I get hit 300 miles easy with 9 gallons of 91 pump gas.

One Advantage of living in Amish Land where the speed limits are 40 - 45 and the Horse and Buggies are around every corner.

And that's w/ a manual tranny... I can only imagine what you'd get w/ an auto.

Average over 19k miles is 29.2mpg. Knocking off the two highest and two lowest, my range is 22.2 - 35.0 mpg.

To be fair, auto might not help. It is probably due to the fact that the Amish speed limit leads to a certain gear and at this gear, the engine hits the sweat point. If he is driving at 40 mph at 6th gear, and you switch it to an auto transmission, the small gear ratio of the AT will make the speed unsustainable and leads to 5th gear and worse mpg.

The auto actually wants to reach 6th gear ASAP.. annoying when you want to drive it hard..but that's what sport mode is for.. holds gear longer.

Normal daily driving in the automatic: 33MPG (7.1L/100KM)

Best score:
When visiting a client on the otherside of the country (long boring cruise-control trip on the highway): 39MPG (6.1L/100KM)

I have an auto, drive ~50 miles a day commuting to/from work. 50% highway 50% street, but 100% traffic 100% of the time. Damn you I-880!!! I drive like a decent civilian.

I am getting an average of 30.8 mpg, and have not reset the average for 6 months now.

Geez. My average according to the trip computer is 24.5mpg, though I've been getting ~28mpg recently which is slowly dragging the average up. Cold weather kills my gas mileage.

i feel like an odd duck out. I get average 300kms a tank. thats around 14.5mpg for you guys. 91 octane (canada stuff so its not that great) it might have to do with my 95% city driving and my 99% "spirited" driving.

My average (according to the meter) is 8.4 L/100 km, equivalent to 28 mpg. Driving in Windsor (suburbia) and to work in Detroit (hwy).
