Vortech kit is all about the tune. Sounds like Innovate is the same way.
Waiting for data and some more info though from tuners.

from the dyno and a few reviews I've read, the innovate kit is the same. people were expecting crazy torque instantly but it seems to be a let down in that department and as well as the hp gains.

the vortech is heavily involved as far as the install but it's far from "jimmy rigged"

Dezoris, Thanks making these videos, you put the time in and the quality is amazing 10/10.

I think I would have to fly a tuner in to my province in canada in order to get anything out of the tune, we have one dyno here and its not the greatest. Most people just log on the streets and tune as they go.

I want to go FI but the tuning limitations and out terrible gas scares me. :/

There is always hype when something new is released, this car is no different. The Vortech kit has some issues mostly with documentation and other things. But it makes the claimed power. And so far more than the Innovate namely up top where you need it for track. So until we see more concrete data I reserve judgement.

I don't plan to spend money on forced induction unless it's a factory add-on.

I don't know how to turn a wrench, don't have the tools, space, time or anyone to learn from. Shit breaks on me in the middle of nowhere, I gotta walk home.

Finished up yesterday, everything went smoothly aside from mounting the intercooler, the included screws sucked so ended up just having some self tapping screws and doing it that way.

So much more fun now! I love my car even more than before which I didn't think was possible when I started the install.

Need to send data logs now. For you already supercharged, any power difference base map vs readjusted tune?

Ah, I see. I live in the bay area which is very low elevation so if I were to do a NA build I could probably get to about 205 whp, roughly.

I haven't really thought about going FI because of the cost. My car is my DD, and I have thought about just getting a Tune, but don't know that i will even do that. Currently i'm actually content with the stock output, maybe because its so much faster than my last car that it will basically run circles around it, but for now i'm satisfied.

I have watched all your Vid's and you make really good video's thanks for posting them up and please keep them going!

I agree lol, i'm pretty much in the same position. I learn a little bit here and there from youtube or one of my friends, but he's usually really busy so i don't get to hang around with him and learn from him all the time, but i still try to learn what i can, its just fun. :happy0180:

Thank you so much OP!

Seriously. You have no idea how much a 3rd party review helps those of us out who are new to this and/or are unsure on what we want to do. Your whole review series was very good and much better than 99% of reviews.

Love this platform. Shows how much people are behind this car that the aftermarket is booming and people like you are helping us vanilla's out lol.

I voted yes in the poll because I think I'm more likely to go forced induction now, but definitely not Vortech. (Just my opinion from what I've gathered from the forums & vid, I don't think there's anything wrong with the supercharger I just personally think its overpriced and too difficult to install for a S/C.)

I watched both videos in their entirety and will say you've got a great personality for this type of stuff.

I found a lot of what you said to be intriguing and definitely something that a lot of our owners should be aware of when attempting to mod this car/engine. We here in Portland are very fortunate to have some amazing shops, vendors and tuners to support advanced modding of the FRS, but at the same time, everyone should still be aware that this isnt a simple bolt on solution and will require a lot of wrench time to get accomplished.

From everyone on these forums, i say thanks for not only taking the plunge financially, doing the research, putting in the abundance of wrench time, but also for making the extra investments in both the equipment to properly document your experiences and the time it took you to make your videos. Your efforts and honesty do not go without thanks.

if you're ever in PDX, feel free to hit us up, Ill be the first to buy you a beer. (just dont let Darren drink it before you do).

When I got started in cars I always wished for more information. The best thing you can do is read and learn, even if its a little bit at a time and you said the key word keep it fun.

When the first video came out it was pretty much a joke, or a test. But really going through the project I felt alone, there is virtually no video info out there on doing this type of thing with the FR-S/BRZ, no one in my area. Just sucks. So it was a way to document the entire process, good and bad. Hope it helps people in the future.

Thanks

Thanks for all that kind words. Really with the internet I expect 90% negative reactions. It rolls off me now. So its good to see some nice things that are genuine like this. Last time I was in Oregon it was for the Atom review in Ashland. Loved it there and would want to come back, its just a massive drive. I have a friend in Portland, shes a bit loopy but maybe now I have an excuse! Check out Darrins garage, throw on a 10 foot spoiler or something.
