ha... ain't that the truth. I guess they figured those who can push the car with accuracy would likely swap tires anyway. Paying less for cheap factory parts that don't work is certainly better than paying more for expensive factory parts that don't work.

Yeah, push it too hard there and you wind up wrapped around a tree or inside someone's barn! It's a fun track no doubt and keeps you on your toes.

I honestly wonder what you guys are doing that you think the stock tires are so dangerous in the wet. Do they grip as well as in the dry? Of course not, but they're plenty capable of traveling the speed limit and well beyond even in the rain.

Maybe you guys need to manage your expectations just a bit better, or be less aggressive with your inputs.

Outlandish, irresponsible stuff like pulling away from stop signs, mostly? It's not like you have to do anything unusual to break traction on these tyres in the wet. They're very slippery. I know all tyres are a bit looser in the wet than they are in the dry, but these things are night and day different.

I don't really think they're dangerous (mostly just a lot of fun), but it is really funny how two-faced they are.

We are talking about the track here, the stockers are junk there on either dry or wet. Seeing as how he as done several track days I doubt the OP is running them.

Without know what tires he's on this can range from danger at 7/10 to 10/10.

He said "car is completely stock down to the tyres," so I think he is running the stock ones...

when it rained a lot in town, man the stock tires didn't grip for shit. It was so much fun throttling through streets and having the rear end kicking out so easily lol.

I agree, they are very easy to break free in the rain or even when the road is just damp. The biggest problem with them in the wet is they work fine right up until the point where they lose grip so it's not hard to screw yourself if your pushing it. They surprised me a couple of times and not in a good way. Once I even felt the need to pull over to look at the tires and make sure there wasn't something wrong and this was a hour or two after the rain had stopped and I had all of the nannies on.

I LOVE when it rains now... I used to hate rain. My BRZ changed all of that.
Maybe I'll move to Seattle.

That would seem obvious. My A/T BRZ breaks traction on dry roads accelerating out of a turn, the back end kicks out then it squiggles back in line, all with TCS on.

Same here...all nannies on, 90 degree turn from a stop, 30-40% throttle input and the back will kick out a little.

This is my 1st RWD car so I'm still learning how to drive/hoon this.

In my experience, most tires are easy to break lose in the wet.

Flame away, but I don't understand the complaints about the Primacy HPs for public roads. They have plenty of grip for normal driving, and they're a blast for hooning. I especially look forward to driving in the wet because this car is so fun and predictable.

If you're doing timed events, then yes grippier tires are a good idea. But the stock tires were an absolute hoot at Limerock's wet/dry autox track. So much sideways
