Front license plate or no front license plate

1) I don't want to spend 25 bucks each fix it ticket

2) I love grimmspeed and got sucked into their front tow hook mount gb (among others. Lol)

3) I pay for custom plates so I may as well get my moneys worth.

So yes, I run a front plate.

On the third day I had the car, I got stopped "Is there a reason you don't have your front tags on?" He gave me a warning. Two days later, got stopped again, "I understand you probably did not have time to get brackets yet but you need to get them on asap." Another warning. Lucky me.

My solution was zip ties, did not want to spend $70 dollars on the kit.

Indiana doesn't require a front license plate. As silly as it sounds, that's one of the main reasons I like this state and am reluctant to live on the west coast. Front license plates look terrible on sleek cars and I would probably constantly think about the negative effects it has on the aerodynamics or radiator cooling if I had one.

Mine came with a dealer-installed mount so yes, I have one. But that's the only reason. Both my other sports cars do not have them and I haven't had a problem in 6 years of driving them (in a two-plate state).

Happy the dealer installed the mount on the grille instead of the bumper. It looks good there and despite what many on here think, it does not affect cooling or the intake at all.

We don't have front plates here. However, if we did I would put one on. I dont understand why if it's law people would complain about getting pulled over? You know you have to have one on there. It's only your fault if you get pulled over for breaking the law.

I would love to tint my car like I've seen some Florida people do it. You know straight limo tint. Around here though, thats just asking to be pulled over. So I don't. I would rather not give them anything to pull me over for. Regardless of what I think of the law.

1st story: Over the years I think I had one out of four or five cars that had a front plate on it, and I never had an issue. One day I borrowed my brother's car, which also did not have a front plate, and I was pulled over an hour later for no front plate.

2nd story: A few years ago I was able to get out of one "fix it" fine by arguing the law itself. The law says the plate "must be visible from the front" and never actually says that it needs to be attached to the bumper. I said my plate was in plain sight, attached to the sun visor, very visible through the windshield. The court lady listening to me reluctantly agreed, but said that even though the law does not say bumper, they want it on the front bumper, and this would be the only freebie I get. Never came up since then.

Just cus it's the law doesn't mean it's stupid. These cars are beautiful and some of us don't like to take away from that with an ugly front plate. It's really just aesthetics. Some people are willing to take the risk, but after my $210 ticket, I am not one of them.

I live in Michigan, another no front plate state. I know just what you mean, so many cars these days look much better without a front plate. At least that's one good thing about living here. Now if they'd just fix the roads... .

Lots of laws are stupid. For example you come from a state full of stupid laws. Attempted soda bans, bans on certain magazines for weapons, ect... I would go nuts if I lived there.

There's a huge debate on whether or not you need front plates in Texas but for the most part I've seen a large number of cars with out them. I even specifically told the dealer before they unwrapped my car not to drill my front bumper. I think I didn't have a plate on my old corolla for about a year till I gave it to my sister which is when the plates finally went on. The cops here don't seem to mind unless you are driving like a jackass.
