No offense to the OP, but those that know this little about a product, usually don't know what to ask to find the information that they don't know. The searches usually lead them all over the place which could lead to multiple threads in different areas all over the forum. I for one favor one mislead thread.

Either way OP, there are no plans to make a more powerful version of this vehicle. Its already been mentioned but many who are so caught up in HP numbers will never truly understand the point of this car. Light, agile, nimble, direct responsiveness from the driver, etc..

There are going to be dozens of aftermarket companies that are going to be working on forces induction platforms for the vehicle once it launches. It's much easier to add HP to a car then remove weight. Think of it this way, they have already set you up with the perfect platform to work on. All you have to do is add the performance parts you want instead of worrying about stripping shit out of it on top of that.

.......And there is a discussion with a FAQ sticky being put up within the forum format. So everyone hang tight and just tolerate threads such as these in the mean time.

I guess I just see people screaming "use search" as people that feel like they have to prove they already know the answer and wont share it simply because it makes them feel better about themselves and wielding what little power they have over people.

searching forums in general, in my looooong internet experience is a waste of time.

Trust me, we answered these questions the last 8 times somebody posted a new thread. It gets frustrating to have to repeat yourself when both parties could save so much time of that person had just searched for it.

Your long Internet experience must have been on some pretty shitty forums because I usually find anything and everything I need when I search on FT86 Club.

If you go to any mature automotive forum the same attitude is taken. Most of the users here have at some point in time been a member of another auto forum. Hell I know I have, so its the norm. Hell I went 100 posts on a forum with every reply of mine including a link to lmgtfy.com where the answer was usually within the top three results.

10 people saying use the search when 1 answer can end the thread and save wasted time. And nobody needs to look like a forum cop with nothing better to do then tell noobs to use the search... If you don't wanat to be helpfull that's cool, but why post then?
Just sayin'

Hence I think it's a good idea to have as many consolidated info threads as possible and just link when these threads arise. I think it's time we have one on mpg, I see several mpg questions pop up everyday.

I think when a lot of people say this car is underpowered with "200hp" they really mean to say it's lacking torque. 200 hp is a great amount for this cars weight but people should understand the difference in what they are saying. If this car made 200hp@6500rpms/185tq@4000 rpms it would feel more powerful in day to day driving than the 200hp@7000 rpms/151tq@6600rpms.

Sheesh SUB, just pretend the rev counter isn't there, and you won't have these issues with the car "feeling" slow :P

The reality is that 151lb-ft of torque is kind of pathetic in this day and age, even if the car only weighs 2800.

whoa.... careful there bud.. saying anything negative about the car is a risky move...

The people on this forum will generally go all crazy on you, label you a troll, preach how you must not appreciate a true sports car, imply that you have never been on a track, tell you that you are a drag racer, suggest that you would be happier with a Mustang or a Camaro (because if you want more power, you obviously want a large, heavy muscle car!) and immediately start stroking each other's egos to justify there planned purchase if you make note of any of the following:
  • 200hp is not a lot of hp
  • 151ft. lbs is really not a lot of torque
  • 2800lbs is not that light
  • 0-60 in 6.0+ is not quick
  • 25-28k is not cheap
  • Point out that the brz/fr-s is not going to be quick around any circuit.

oh... and use search... a lot...

I have been here for 3 years, I think most people here are not that bad. Some people here just used a bit harsh words, but they are great and helpful people. And yes, you should appreciate the car for what it really is and what it can possibly serve you. If you can't do that, you can never justify getting the car even it's dirt cheap. People who bought Yaris or Fit also appreciate the cars for what they are made to be.
