I have not played with the clutch or pedal on this car at all yet. As for the DI issue others have mentioned being that I can't get it to do it without the car moving/free reved at idle; I'd say it wouldn't be that. All the vids I have seen do that at idle. Maybe a throttle body or the bypass valve on the back of the blower?

What do fuel trims, etc. do when the DI seals go out? I would think something like that would show up on a log.

can you get some datalogs via ecutek? i would say it's drivetrain related if it only happens when moving, but the ecu is aware of vehicle speed and it's possible some comps are active when stopped that are not when moving.

when your moving the output shaft is turning, which at first glance seems to be the only difference between the rolling and non rolling tests...

Exactly, I would figure my logs would show erratic fuel trim or possible knock. The pulls and logging I have done seem okay.

If possible, attempt to mount your GoPro in the engine bay, aimed at your bypass valve. I believe the rapid transition from boost to vacuum while shifting/lifting is causing the actuator to open hard against the stop. It would not happen all the time at idle just blipping the throttle as you would not always be building enough boost to overcome the internal dampening effect of the actuator itself, at least to the point where it would make any significant noise. As loud as it is and the way it sounds, I highly doubt it is anything internal to your engine or transmission. It is a theory at this point, but I believe it would be worth investigating. I will see if I can find out more on my end, this may be happening in everyone's car and they just are not hearing it due to other modifications that are covering up the sound. If this is the case I would not be concerned.

Can you grab your engine and wiggle it? I do wonder if you guys are starting to kill engine mounts already.

Thanks for your input. I will see if i can mount a go pro umder the hood at get a bright enough light to actually capture good footage. At first thought I was worried about DI. But as I kept trying to diag and it not happening at idle I eliminated that. As for the bypass valve that makes more sense. If you hear of anyone else having the issue let me know. It's more of an annoyance than anything.

I actually did this to check and see if my header was hitting anything as I thought the noise was related to that (I have one of the first JDL UEL headers that doesn't clear the skid plate).

Shook the hell out of that thing, couldn't replicate my noise.

Always worth a shot @evo4g63

I had the car up on a lift yesterday. Using a rubber mallet I beat the hell out of the undercarriage and exhaust components (not really beating the hell out of the car) No loose or rubbing components I could see. At times it sounds like when a weld is broken on an exhaust heat shield and it rattles. All checked out okay.

Did you have any excessive play prying the motor or trans around? L's, RS', Foresters, and leggy's were all awful about this after lots of miles or a short time with boost.

I meant shaking the motor, not checking for rattles on the header/exhaust components, I just used this method to check for clearance with my header. I grabbed the sc by the throttle body and shook it around to check for noises.

No, I didn't try using a pry bar to move the drivetrain or motor. I will take a quick peak at the mounts today. My car has 6k miles on it and 800 miles on the Innovate. In which 600 miles of those were driving from Phoenix to LA for 86fest this last weekend. I don't have a lot of miles at all but worth a shot to try.
