Getting a radar detector is simply a good investment. And one that will pay for itself many times over.

Escort Passport 9500ix is on sale for $449.00 direct from their website and at Best Buy.

The newest technology model was just released by Escort earlier this month, the Passport Max, sells for $549.00.

I average 2 saves per month in mostly highway driving.

This is the passport 9500ix, windshield mounted.

This might be a little lengthy but I'll give you the thinking of one cop, or I should say X-cop.

Many years ago in another lifetime I was a LEO for seven years in the suburbs of Detroit. The first thing to keep in mind that cops are as different from each other as people are in any other job. There are cops that loved to write tickets. There were cops (me) that didn't especially like writing tickets. There were cops that would write up there mother. You can't put them all in one category. There were cops I was honored to work with and there were cops that were an embarrasement to the job. I'm sure many, if not all, of you work with someone who is a jerk. (Do you think people should look upon you the same way they look at him?)

When making a traffic stop I usually had decided before getting out of the car if I was going to write a ticket or not. One rule I played by pretty closely was I would either chew you out or I would write a ticket. I tried to never do both. If I had it in my mind that I was going to chew you out there was something you could do that would immediately change my mind. If you showed me any 'attitude' you were leaving with a ticket. If I had decided I was going to write you and you showed me straight forward honesty there was a chance I might not write you up. Think of it this way. Of the two following examples, which one is the biggest danger: the guy who accidentally, because of inattention, runs a stop sign or the guy who intentionally runs a stop sign? The guy who does it thru inattention is by far a bigger hazard than the guy who rolls thru because he has checked and it is safe to do so.

Be respectful (sincerely) and be honest. That and the luck of the draw might help you get out of a ticket.

THIS x100000

I got one a couple years ago and I cannot believe the amount of saves it has given me. Red light cameras, speed cameras, everything. Best investment and mod for the car yet.

Even if I dont speed, having the peace of mind is good enough. For example I took it on my trip from WI to AZ in the uhaul, and as I know i couldnt speed due to the slow uhaul it was nicing having it as my co pilot if anything were to happen.

I went 70ish in a 50 zone (km/hr) once before (I was late so I was just gunning it, the road was fairly empty too).

The cop gave me a ticket for tinted windows cuz (fronts door tint is illegal) he said it would be cheaper than the speeding ticket.

still wasn't cheap though.....

It sucks though cuz I circled around to go a normal route instead of going the back way and avoiding the cop (didn't see him parked)......so I could have avoided a ticket altogether.
