If you read the NYT article on this, you'll see that most of the problems (two thirds) were design related (meaning, nothing broke) and especially about the technology interface(s). There are so many variables involved I'm not sure what the results mean.

Considering that, if I'm reading that chart correctly, even the absolute best up there has 80 problems per 100 vehicles, and the industry standard is 113 problems per 100 vehicles.... perhaps there is something wrong with this "study"....

Demographics are everything in these sort of analysis. How many Porsche drivers think God himself built the 911? There is immense brand loyalty with certain makes that will skew results.

My question is how many FR-S/Scion customers did J.D.Powers get the surveys from..??


I've purchased 3 Scions in the last 12 months and never received a survey from them.
