Whoa whoa whoa. I'd prefer a fairly stripped-down version, but I'm not going to pay extra to get less stuff. I'd love to get a bare bones base model that I could add the fancy/heated seats to. I've got a $100 Magellen GPS and I've managed to survive 25 years of driving without HID headlights, I bet I can continue that streak. Leave off the rear wing and push-button start, lop $2500 off the price tag and put one in my driveway.

Only Limited has the wing and push button start I think.
Okay I just remembered RA has no stereo at all. Not sure that will fly in the US. A fair price for an R spec though would be 500-800 below Premium IMO, equipped with basic 2 speaker stereo (knowing that they come with 8 rather than the spec sheet's 6, I wonder what "2 speaker" actually means) and AC. You're losing 17 inch wheels, nav/fancy music, stainless steel trim bits, trunk lining, underbelly covers, most of the speakers, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. I imagine not a lot of people in America would want to ditch a nice sound system, so the "special order" it takes to get the downgrade wouldn't be that much cheaper. Personally I want no integrated infotainment so I can hook up a smartphone and maybe a small LCD display, less speakers since I couldn't give a crap about the audio but don't want passengers whining about the lack of speakers, and no leather trimmed stuff because plastic feels fine to my hands. I'll admit the stainless steel pieces they stick in the door and trunk lining look nice, but not something I want to pay for. Underbody covers are probably way overpriced too, I'll stick some plastic covers on myself. |

As nice as a bare bones BRZ sounds in theory, I don't know if I could live with that ultra-drab all black interior. I'd love it in say...a $15,000 car. There's no reason to argue then. But a bare bones BRZ will still by ~22k (at least!). I just couldn't torture myself like that.
By the way could someone please tell me how Subaru is putting 8 speakers in my new COUPE? 2 regular speakers in the door 2 tweeters up top 2 in the back of the cabin where the arm rest things are for rear seat passengers And the other 2? Rear deck? In the tires? If so which tires? Rear ones would already be making their own nose and if they were in the front think about all the extra wiring slack they'd need so the car could turn! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Promise I'll stop making wonky posts on 3 hours of sleep sooner or later.

I'm in the 'less is more' boat. 8 speakers is too much for this car (to me). And I certainly can agree with the statement that Subaru's nav software is awful.
Actually, even if they had the best nav system in the world I still wouldn't want it. Unnecessary weight and price increase imo. If I get lost, I can always use my smartphone's navigation. I rather prefer it's interface anyways. |

Just for clarification on my original post, I wouldn't want Subaru to completely strip down the car as some have suggested (taking away LSD, speakers, wheels, ect). I just don't want the crap that Subaru decided to add on their own (standard). I'd like a model on par with the FR-S with a dedicated head unit. I've seen first hand how Subaru cuts corners on some features, I'd hate to be forced to pay for them.
For you guys asking about the speakers, I think the Scion TC has 8 speakers, and 6 of them are in the door (various sizes). I wouldn't be shocked if the BRZ/FR-S has a similar system. |

@ op
Basically... you either want too little or too much. I forgot who it was that said this but it made a lot of sense I think it was Ryephile or RRnold but it was bluntly, they can't cater to every little thing people wants. And unfortunately for you alot of people value the "Crap" they put in. Like Ryephile suggested sound like you should get an FRS and buy the BRZ front and accessories to make it a BRZ aftermarket etc. By that time you've probably could afford the Premium or Limited. The car you're looking for doesn't exist unfortunately, they would have to completely build another trim from the ground up to cater to that. They would have to offer leather Seat(which they don't have on any trim full leather anyways), a normal radio, Push start, all the speaker. It's not fair but unfortunately what we get is what we get :/ It might just be me being here for a long time, but the certain groups saying FRS should be like a Fully Loaded Limited BRZ like the 86, and the others going the BRZ should be less like the FRS. Like ...Urgh... For Subaru, this is their first ever Rear wheel drive car in the USA, which most Americans were already on Subaru's case for not having a 4wd coupe(uneducated about the FT86 people anyways) If this car came to America anything but Loaded, the people they are targeting While Collar 47 age isn't going to buy these cars. They wont sell. as much as they want, then it will flop. At least RA would cater to a mass amount of people who do mod. A base that's so close to a FRS is good and all but it would prolly kill Scion. Scion needs that FRS to live. @ everyone Just for Clarification, RA has HID, No LSD, It Has no AC only heater, No Stero, No Alloy wheels,no metal finishes. The seat are the same quality as the FRS but no Red stitching and red add on. All safety equipment are still standard. And only comes in 3 colors, SWP,CBS, and WRB. There's a extra charge in Japan for SWP.

Nope. I'm not planning on doing any major modification so I'm fine not having a stripped out version.

I hardly see how adding or removing Nav and/or HIDs would require a trim built from the "ground up". It's my opinion that if Subaru offered a base model, nobody would buy the Premium trim... You'd only get people buying the Base and Limited. I'm sure Subaru also thinks they might lose sales to the FR-S if they are competing dollar for dollar, I think they might gain some, but who knows. In a perfect world leather would be a stand alone option as well as included in a trim package. I can live without it, big deal. My whole point is they've added unnecessary "fluff" that Scion isn't. That doesn't mean I want the Scion. |

Agreed to the two posters above. The BRZ is the better equipped model, dreaming isn't going to change that. Go for the FRS and switch fronts if it matters that much.
