You all bought a brand new platform, with a brand new engine and now lots of you are up up arms that everything isn't perfect from the get go. Everything goes through updates, changes, service bulletins, recalls, that's the trade off for hopping to a new platform right away.

Carbonblue is right. I know someone with the issue who doesn't drive his car in the manner described. He's not on here but you can send me the questions and I will call him.

i think people are freaking out because they bought a new car that had a serious flaw due to the manufacturer and they arent acknowledging the warranty. this leaves them with a car without a motor. 2800 lbs is not too heavy for a car but its an absolute pig for a paper weight.

0.6 seconds is very easy time to achieve an up shift. I find it hard to believe anyone owning one of these cars for any amount of time has not taken it to or near redline and performed an up shift in under 0.6 seconds before getting back on throttle in the next gear.

Who would want to lug their engine during a spirited drive because they would have to wait just under 1 second to shift into the next gear? I wouldn't want to. Hope they solve this soon. 2 of my DI went out within a month of each other. I have 4 brand new DI's now. We'll see what happens.

I just had my first symptom today. Under throttle I heard what sounded like a high pressure pop come from the hood. like if you popped an air hose off under pressure.

The question is how long before this starts does it cause engine damage.
I plan on taking out the injectors this week to look at them to see the state.

Didn't take our engine very long... less than 2500 combined miles in our case.

We have over 25k miles on our car. Yeah, we drive it a lot (adds up quick when you drop by a lot of meets)...

More frustrating is I have to either take all the parts off the car for warranty purposes or just do it myself.

What were the labor times to pull the injectors for you Mike?

I have no idea; the dealer did the teardown, but my understanding is that anyone who's got an enthusiast's experience (aka me) should be able to pull them in under an hour.

Now, putting on new seals/collars is a whole different story.

Eyeballing the service manual shows a specific tool to install one of the seals.

Mike do you have all the part numbers for these parts?

Someone has already sourced the special tool. One guy bought the actual Toyota one and provided a part number. Another member found a universal tool that he claimed would work. It is in one of the injector issue threads. Can't recall which one at the moment.
