Yep, takes forever. If I didn't know this was a 'thing' with these cars I would think the tstat was stuck open.

I checked that and the thermostat is fine. I have an oil cooler from an FA20T that would fix the issue since it is a little heat exchanger with the coolant (wams coolant when cold, cools when hot.) Problem is finding fitted hoses or a port to tie it into.

Back to the original topic, we have very good news. Toyota has finaly approved an updated flash for 2012 built cars. Evidently they were having idle dip problems so they had to release a new flash (emissions) I got a letter in the mail. But any way the good news for us is it includes all previous updates including the TIR table/DI seal fix.

Info:

TSB: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...62&postcount=1

Calib Manual: B01C stock ROM
Calib Auto:: B01D stock ROM

so just walk into your nearest Scion dealer tell them your idle is dipping and show them the TSB if necessary. Verify with Torque (android.)

finally a fix that retains warranty! Only a 2 year wait.

Hey Regal, what you linked looks like a Subaru bulletin for the camshaft position sensor. Nearly a year old and completely unrelated to DI failure to our knowledge.

Did you mean this bulletin from December that covers all Scions affected?

yes that the one. My eye are playing tricks on me today.

My scion dealer is a long way away an I have to wait because I only vae one car at the moment. I talked to the service rep at length gave him the TSB # (the right one) and Vin. He said he had o keep it over night to see that my idle is under 900 rpm from a cold start and if it wasn't a warranty issue I would be charged $50.

Now those with good dealers are having great success, but I'm so fed up with my dealer I'm just going aftermarket to flash a damn factory tune.

also the DI seal failure still being denied this flash in the TSB just fially gives us 2012 owners an up to date calib with everything the 2013 builds have and more improvements They aren't ever going to admit DI seal failures, somebody proably got killed (just an educaed gueas.)

But I do feel like 2012 owners should get together and throw a party! It been a long fight.

Instractions and links to files are in the EcuFlash thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47322

I am not sure where else to post this but I think I may have some problems with the DI. It was fine for 13k miles. I noticed today that in 4th while downshifting I may be hearing a pop. It did it again when I was going 40 and put it into neural and revved. Those were the only two times it happened, to my knowlegle. So my question is, how worried should I be? I have some headers and I am currently untuned.

I think it was a figment of my mind. No matter how hard I tried, there was no noises coming even after I tried all the things that usually cause the DI popping noise. Sorry for wasting your time!

+1. Is there a confirmed build date that includes the improved tune? Mine is a 4/13 build date.

I haven't seen any '13 build dates with the issue reported (stock). But you should really get the CY 2014 (ZA1JB01C) ecu calibration for other reasons.

You need to add a "I have NOT had a DI issue" to the poll. Reason being... as with other problems, forums can breed panic and reliability misconceptions due to the fact that people always take time to post when they want to complain, but aren't as eager to with there's something positive to say. So this poll, and others like it, indicate a variety of problems, but what percent of the total 86 population is actually having problems? This could be a small group of isolated incidents in the whole scheme of things, but the current poll format doesn't allow for that research.
