Mid 2013 an updated ROM was used that supposedly fixed the high-rev-shift detonation issue that leads to DI seal failure. Did it truly fix it? With what VIN did this start? I don't know.

I'm coming up on 2 years of ownership this June but only have 5,500 miles on my car. Dealer did a reflash last summer but I'm not sure for what. I haven't experienced anything people have mentioned in this thread but sometimes get a very brief idle dip. I normally shift by 5000 rpm but have taken it past 6000 from time to time. Never tracked, tuned, or modded in any way.
The DI issue would be covered under your 5yrs/60,000 mile power-train warranty, so long as you haven't given them an excuse to deny it, such as a FI (turbo/supercharger).

None yet, but the tune with the Jackson Racing factory tuned kit is HEAVILY deviated from the factory tune... a lot of world renowned tuners (that I unfortunately cannot name) contributed to it.

The DI seal failure happens with no warning, but we have enough miles on the 2014 that we should have seen the failure by now if it were going to happen. We didn't average many miles between DI seal failures on the 2013.

I'm at 6,000 miles with a LOT of that being track miles and keep "waiting" to see if it's gonna show up.... but knock on wood I haven't had any sign (no CEL, backfiring/popping, etc) , it's a 2/2013 build.

Great forum, I knew a budget solution would pop up eventually. I thinks if you have a 2012 build a $200 tatrix cable + the above would be a smart move if you have a windows laptop.

Opinions?

Mike I remember you posted that Feb 2013 factory tunes does not fix the DI issue. So you think the tune from "world renowned tuners" actually fixes it?

Or is because you have actually changed your shifting style, which you also posted about?
