This is my only experience with an OEM nav/touchscreen, but I think its much better then the pioneer avic z110 in my last car. That thing didn't even have a volume knob....just tiny little buttons that you could never find.

The people complaining about this type of shit need to pay attention to the road not the radio. If you're that concerned about the song that's on the radio you certainly aren't paying as much attention to the road as you should be. Let alone drinking coffee and talking on the damn telephone. DRIVE THE FUCKING CAR.

However, I don't stare at it while driving and I have never felt it was unsafe to operate. I just use the next/previous for presets instead of the preset screen, put your finger over the button (takes what, .2 seconds to glance?) and leave it there until you find a channel with something good. Plus it's not like you can't replace the head unit if you want. Makes a lot more sense than trying to get a recall because someone is too stupid to figure out how to deal with the shitty UI. I'd rather have a shitty UI and no steering wheel controls than a shitty UI and steering wheel controls I hate steering wheel controls. If it annoyed me that much I would simply replace the HU.

Personally, I agree with those that would like to have controls on the the wheel. Purists will say that it isn't necessary and a distraction. When driving for the "joy" of driving I agree, but for most that is what maybe 10% of the time at best. For day to day, commuting and highway driving I prefer the wheel controls. I also think wheel controls are safer if you use the radio or phone.

Why does the first row of selections include things like AM radio, XM radio and CD which I NEVER use and bluetooth which I use often is on another page? A little thing but it drives me crazy sometimes. |

Yes, the UI of the NAV/radio is just horrible. I really just want like 6 channel presets for the radio that have giant buttons... At some point I can see myself upgrading. I don't even care that much about built in NAV since Google on a phone is so much better anyway.

This. If you feel you can't change the presets without crashing into the car in front of you or slamming on the brakes, then wait till you are at a stop light or pull over to the side of the road to change the radio station.
