$27k isn't bad on $50k. Depends on what his down payment and trade in was. That could be a $450-500/month payment. Not that bad depending on his other expenses.

As far as you other comment, I guess I'm not the "norm" on this forum.

Rememer median isn't the same as mean (average). Median is just the middle number if you arrange all of the ages from lowest to highest. That means there will be just as many people over 47 as under 47.

Your average american also has around $16,000 in credit card debt

I try to keep any single car payment at 400 or less and my down payment will reflect that. That way the rest of my car account money builds for mods, repairs, track days, racing, or a second car payment on the extremely rare occasions I've done that.

You definately CAN spend 30k on a car on a 50K income but if you figure tax rates (25% for single IIRC) your take home is ~37,500, before medical, other taxes, 401k, etc, so if we just pick say, 30k, you are spending 1/5th of your income on a car payment if it's 500/month..

For me, that's not comfortable.

I'll be putting atleast 15k down with 60 months financing.. but if the limited is priced over 30k (OTD) I'll have to go with the premium model

The dealer I'm working with says they already have a few deposits already, but I will still be getting one of the cars from the first shipment.

So March...if that's true I guess I'll be putting down a slightly smaller down payment than I had expected! lol
Maybe he meant orders are going in? Because deliveries coming in this soon sounds a but unrealistic, considering we are missing vital info on the car.

It's a subject I dance around. People could probably determine where I am compared to the median if they put enough together though.

dear god why?

If you are putting 15k down the difference from the premium to the limited shouldn't make any appreciable difference in payments.

Well unless your credit is bad and you have a 15% interest rate or something :P

I'd like to keep the payment around 200. With insurance and the premium gas, this car will quickly eat into my monthly budget. Also, I still have student loans to pay off.

but now you got me thinkin.. maybe 50 bucks a month is worth the limited
