Already in the works on that one, the Subaru dealer in our area is small and at this point the dealer won't take a deposit till they know the pricing, though I am sure I am on a "wait list" for it. Just hoping that I get lucky and the car is at the dealers during my window of time that I am home before I move on to my next area. Would much rather support local business in my hometown area than some random dealer at my next post I will be at after leaving here. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hope that I can have the car ordered on the 1st and that it will take the 6-8 weeks to have it delivered as it would put it perfect for the time frame I have to get the car locally. I will try to see about placing a deposit again with the dealer though I think I might be the only one interested in the car being from a small town with small local dealers.

The pricing has been worked out more or less, they know where it needs to be. The car will be sold in Japan for mere days before the US, not enough time to determine it's success.

OK well to pre order you will need to have a deposit down so dealers don't request 20 cars without buyers/deposits.. proof of deposit is required.

Dave,

Do you think dealers would rather have the $500 down and get another car at their location even if the deposit gets refunded? The reason I ask is because I have a second dealer that wants a deposit (I'm sure they all do). I haven't told him I have a deposit down at a second dealer but I've told him that I might not carry through buying the car and he doesn't seem phased at all. He said just put a deposit down, come see the car when it comes in and if you don't like it you get your deposit back.

I wonder if he just thinks it's in his best interest to have one around to drum up some interest in the car.

He will only get his allocation initially anyway. Pre order just means it'll be to the customers request IF the car is available otherwise it'll be a random brz.

I'm awake!

Auto-dimming rear view for sure, possibly trunk tray so the carpet doesn't get real dirty.

Which dealer?

Subaru of Olathe is taking non-refundable deposits only if I pay MSRP. Other dealers nearby are not taking deposits til "Subaru officials" visit them w/ more info. Seems I've been the only person calling about the BRZ; when I called the dealerships a 2nd time a week after I first called them they all remembered my name.

Today marks the 2nd month I've lived in Kansas and I haven't seen any late model WRXs/STIs in my area. My gut tells me there will be 4ish BRZs among the 5 dealers within a 30 mile radius of me. Or whatever quantity they get, it won't sell right away.

lol I live in Florida but I'm from Ohio. Although my hometown in Ohio has fewer ice hockey rinks than I have around me here... and I played roller hockey there for a bit, ice hockey here.. go figure.

This is what I was afraid of... sounds like they are going to make it expensive and try to sell to an older wealthier crowd in limited numbers instead of making it affordable and selling more of them.
