Ummmm, the genesis is already RWD

2) Lightweight
3) Affordable
4) Sporty
5) Modification friendly
6) Not a FWD

See, the market wants this. But no car has all these characteristics. You have to satisfy one for the other.
Not everybody wants a turbo. I for one don't.

That's cool. But you cannot deny it. Nowadays its all about acceleration and straights. Its sad but its true.

This car was never meant to be the new Supra. It was meant to be the new AE86 Corolla GTS. If people want more power, then they should choose a different car. Just wait for the re-launch of the Supra(if that ever happens).

Again, why are people so butt hurt about some of us wanting great handling AND some more power?

"Go buy a Mustang" or "wait for the Supra".

Sorry, asking for 250 hp isn't being unrealistic.

"Your car is slow"
"Yeah I know, but it's cool, it's a driver's car"

Sorry i must have misled you to think that the s2000 was a failure because it was not popular. You exactly covered my point. It was a failure it that it had "limited appeal".
CSI:86, I see what you mean. But they knew when they built/designed the car that it would have limited appeal. If the car is built and designed knowing that, I don't think you can call it a failure. Not an exact comparison, but I don't think Lotus considers the Elise a failure in the US either.

The supra should come out eventually... Nissan has the GT-R and Acura is coming with the new NSX. It's only time Toyota will come back with the Supra. Only makes sense.

I'm not to worried about what they will be doing in the future, I'd say within the next 10-15 years everything will be going either EV, or Fuel cell of some type.
There is also a lot of rumors that Toyota is working on an EV version of our cars, if that ends up being true, then that will more than likely be my next car in about 10 years. I'm sure my FR-S will last me that long before i need to worry about buying anything else anyway.

Who drives an WRX or the STI version the same way one drives a Prius,..these cars are usually thrashed with aftermarket bolt ons by and large by a much younger generation.

Haha let me rephrase!

As long as there is continual demand and the maker is still financially able to produce the car, the car will not be a failure. The s2k died out because of lack of demand. Lotus elises sales still go strong.

Where to begin with this post....

Honestly, most of the OP is just nonsense and littered with misinformation. To make this car both companies needed something. Niether could make it on their own (profitably) When it boils down to it.... Toyota needed an engine. Subaru needed the money. Toyota backed subaru financially, subaru gave Toyota a boxer engine (which are more than capable at "revving") toyota designed the car, subaru did the engineering heavy work. Toyota also gave subaru an injection technology which will benefit subaru for years to come. Subaru makes the cars and makes the money. Toyota gets to add excitement to it product portfolio. They both win. This car will never be a supercharged monster (stock) it isn't supposed to be. It's an entry level sports car. I like to think of what this car has versus what it doesn't have. As a sub $30,000 car it's got a lot going for it. It's a resounding success, they sell them as fast as they can make them....

Making this car rev will be no issue once a suitable after market valve train is developed,....which I'm sure is already in the works,...but then again don't expect 300k mileage on such an engine....50k would be a stretch before a rebuild is necessary....the popularity of this car can not be questioned.....at all.....look at the aftermarket folks going crazy over this car,...and with each upgrade performance wise,...overall longevity depreciates.....everyone is or should be aware of that along with intervals of lube an oil changes......keep it stock,....and drive it like a Prius you should see very good longevity and reliability,...but hit the rev limiter every shift,...even stock,...don't blame Subaru or Toyota.
