I have a set of buddy clubs I am going to throw on it for summer and I'm going to use the stock rims for winter. Other than that, it will most likely remain very stock.

How much of a mileage difference are you seeing? Or are you just referring to the 93 vs 87 gas you can use now? And how much were you paying for insurance? I'm married, 32, now with a kid, and I am paying Less than $300/6 months for insurance.

Sorry for your loss

You are making the right decision. To give you hope, I drove a honda civic for the first seven years of child years (painful), now my son is 10 and he sits shotgun with dad and we go to cruises and meets together in the FRS, he loves it and it provides great qualtiy time with father and son. I know it feels like casteration right now but your time will come again and you will be able to share it.

With the FRS I was getting between 25-27mpg with a fully broken in motor. It started at 21mpg or so when I first bought it. Right my now Accent is still in the break-in period and I'm seeing 33mpg. I haven't driven it much yet, but it will only increase after the motor has been worn in. Being able to put low octane gas also helps quite a lot. I'm definitely saving a lot of money this way. I'm also not married yet (will be in a few months!!!) and only 22, so my insurance is over triple that... and it is about to go up.

I know it sounds absolutely crazy, but I'm starting to REALLY like this little car... It only has 138hp, but it weighs like 2,400lbs and has a fantastic 6 speed gearbox. Because it is so slow I can thrash it through the gears and still be going under the speed limit, it's a lot of fun. It's no RWD sports car, but I'm making the best of it.

This liking and the sport car enthusiast will never go away. LOL! I and my brother in law are both in the same boat.

Me on the other hand is looking toward to the next WRX STI. Look like it will be very expensive though, right around 40k or so. If it is that, then I will just drive my camry until it dies, and give another 10 years to grow kids in teenage, save my money, and purchase the 10 years in the future corvette.

Trust me, all teens love Sport car, especially Corvette!!! I remember how Drooling I was, when I was in teenage, I always envy other Teens who got a Dad with a Corvette to Cruise them around.

Well, whats done is done, and I am glad you are happy with the Kia. Also, congrats on the pending marriage! Maybe it was different driving habits, but I'm getting close to 31 mpg right now.

Why was your insurance about to "skyrocket?" Granted, I am 10 years older than you so of course 25+ takes effect, but getting married, for whatever reason, really drops rates. I was paying about twice as much as I am now before I got married 18 months ago (yes, it was on a different car originally). Being a homeowner helps, so if you don't own a house yet, but that could take effect. Did you get in an accident or something?

I had a Kia Forte SX sedan before the BRZ, it was a great car, handled and stopped well, had as good of an interior, great fit and finish. In many ways I miss it...it was certainly more practical, the BRZ is more fun though!

Not married yet, no house, and under 25 years old. My insurance is already pretty high, but I'm facing 8 points on my license right now for doing donuts in an empty parking lot (seriously)

I was doing 90% highway mileage and I think 28mpg is the most I've seen out of my FRS. So the little Hyundai is killing it already.

VIP style is pretty rad... But have you seen the prices of mini-vans lately? Mommy mobiles come stock pimp-my-ride style with DVD players and all kinds of crazy shit.
