I would be pretty disappointed with Subaru if they didn't cover this engine. We're talking about an engine that was pretty much bone stock. I've seen Subaru cover EJ257's that cracked pistons running 300-320 whp (stage 2 roughly, i.e., aftermarket tune + TBE) with no issue.

A stock car (especially one like the BRZ/FR-S) should be able to run laps on a track without destroying the engine, even if it means the car puts itself into a limp mode due to heat.

I'm not saying that a car company won't market a car as a track car and then void your warranty when you do track the car. I am saying that we as consumers shouldn't stand for that.

It bothers me the people on here that just have the "deal with it" attitude... No! When did you decide as a consumer to just bend over an take it from a manufacturer that is effectively false advertising?

Has any of toyota or Lexus's cars with direct injection had problems with their seals? Is this system different and if it is, how so?

look at the first page where the op put Subarus advertisements in bold. Assuming that those are in fact Subarus words they advertised the car for track days and events..

Reminds me of the Ford Raptor dilemma. The commercial shows the truck flying in the air after jumping a dirt ramp...Ivan Stewart style. When people at home tried this the truck bent in half on landing, as expected.

Warranty denied.

Uhmm I had a CEL and coil failure at the track. Dealer fixed it under warranty, they knew it happened at the track. The local SOA rep has seen my car at Mastro Subaru so he knows it's usage also if anything ever gets to him.

Track usage does involve longer periods of high loads than a street car does obviously, but I wouldn't consider that abusive. Anyone who is fast at the track isn't going to be rough and abusive to the trans/driveline/etc either.

get a time and void your insurance not always just mostly.
This is a sporty road car, not a race car not a track car even though it can be used as such.
After reading horror stories about oil temps and seeing the stock radiator..we didn't go on track till we had a solution...
My stock tires and brakes are all new too lol
That is the kicker for the CSG car here, except that at least some of the time it wasn't the CSG car being used.

They could call the so called 86 cup racing while others could call it a friendly comparison of laptimes. The commercial involvement in it makes it racing though...

When you buy the car.. the warranty is stated and you as a consumer
agreed to its terms by handing over your money. While the warranty may not say certain types of events or track driving will void your warranty, it does state that abuse , not intended use, modified parts, pushed beyond normal operating parameters... etc will not be covered.
So nobody is bending over really.. we agreed to their lawyer talk and rules..and marketing did its thing..

It doesn't specify track usage by the way. It specifies racing.

An HPDE is a driver education event to teach people how to control and drive their vehicle at high rates of speeds, cornering, braking, etc. It's not in any way racing. A time trial event is racing, autocross is racing, rallycross is racing, wheel to wheel road racing is racing. HPDEs are not.

Having participating in multiple forms of racing, I know exactly what differences there are. I push my race cars FAR harder than my street cars. The current race car has about as many miles racing as my BRZ has total, not too worried about my race car engine burning up an injector seal...

You did, just not directly. Instead trying to say that it's abuse or non-intended usage. They would call it out just like insurance companies do if that was their intention. Doing a clutch drop for fun is more abuse than a DE is and they cover plenty of cars with those issues (within reason).

Which part of track driving in an HPDE is so abusive?

They did tell you what you can do with your new car. They dont recomend, they instruct/ provide possibilities. Freedom of choice = responsibility for your own actions.
Subaru/Toyota don't force anyone to do anything with their new "race car"
