That was kind of my point...Pontiac cheapened/ruined the look by using it on pretty much every car they offered for a long time.

Does the fact that Rolex's are the most copied watch design diminish their value?

Pontiac made alot of POS's but that has nothing to do with the value of/reson for red cluster lighting. Of course I've never owned a Pontiac because I don't buy terrible cars, maybe you should try that instead of complaining about it.

Who's complaining? I believe I said it was my wife's car...I didn't buy it. I don't buy terrible cars either, that's why her last two vehicles have been Honda and Acura respectively.

It's comments like your last one that make forums such wonderful and informative places to visit.

IMO my eyes prefer the amber light. I don't like white lights especially on my tach when I'm driving at night.

You can dim the dash lighting for night driving can't you?

I had that issue before with my old car, I would just dim the dash a few levels and it was fine.

Agree. The OP's picture looks awesome, but the frs I test drove looked like this : white background tach, not black. That picture (not this) is my ideal: black background, white lights at night

Does the white background get blacked out this much?

Im pretty sure it might be. The lighting from the tach will probably outglow it, especially if you're in a dark area like this. our eyes will focus onto the lighting and thus darkening the white part. But it could just be the camera, i wouldn't know because I don't have one :P
