It looks to me from the photos on the frs site that the cup holders in the frs center console area are removable to begin with, or adjustable at the very least as marinjim mentioned.

This being the case, it shouldn't be too hard to get a low armrest with a molded bottom to slide right in where the cup holder insert is, or something along those lines. Granted then you'd have to find a place to temporarily place your cup holder insert, so eh.

Seems like whatever is done, it should end up being relatively cheap or rather, 'affordable'[TM].

I'd personally like one since I plan on using it as a DD, so it would be nice to rest my arm somewhere while on the freeway. I wonder if Subaru will have it as an option later. The newer WRX's have a very nice sliding armrest/center console storage lid that can slide forward so you can rest your arm while cruising or slide back to give you clearance so your elbow doesn't bump it while working the shifter. They were offered as an option in the 2010's but I guess they are standard now.

Us old guys need to stick together although I'll make you feel young as I'm 61 .
Yeah, being 63 I like a place to rest my arm...and there are cupholders in the doors.

I was thinking more using the cup holders (or one of them) as the female portion of a connector mated to the bottom of the arm rest insert. Then, if you want the cupholders you remove the armrest.

Something along those lines.
