My car now has an armrest/center console of sorts but I think I could get used to not having one. I think I just rest my arm there while driving (ha - arm rest), because it's a comfortable distance to rest my arm but still have my hand on the shifter. Sorry, no 9 & 3 hand position here. Definitely a cover would be nice though.

I might even hinge it to get it to fit in the glove box for when I'm using the cup holders.
I like your idea, would be great if you YouTube the process for others at least take and post some photos on the forum.

I have a manual shift 1993 Lexus SC300 (not my car in the pic) and love the armrest. The wife's Prius is another story (hard as a rock and hurts your elbow after 5 minutes ).

I dunno, I'm interested in having the armrest, so I can use that cover to put little items in the car. I wouldn't want a bunch of cords dangling around etc. Also I don't think the glove compartment's that large.

Gangsta lean, hanging out the window FTW... lol I liked the way the S2000 one was it was very comfortable and never interfered with driving/ shifting.

I don't care enough to make one or buy one though, I'll get used to it

Resting your hand on the shifter is as bad as resting your foot on the clutch. Don't be lazy. Don't do it.

I'm thinking there will be aftermarket consoles available later or even factory options/accessories to address this. The beanbag pillow will work in the meanwhile, though I plan to keep my phone/mp3 in the center console.

Possible armrest

Found this on EBay fits a 1996-2000 Civic armrest 8 1/2 x 4 1/2. I'll call Scion in the morning to see if I they can tell me the width of the console and the length of the opening. The red stitching seems a dead on match...

If anybody cares Scion had no dimension info on the console.

If someone can measure the BRZ (assume it is the same as FR-S) that is touring the dealers I'd love to have:
1. the total width of the console (outside not inside) and
2. the front to back of the large opening (not the smaller area by the parking brake).

I'm sure some third party will come up with an armrest. But then you'll have to give up some cupholders.

I was thinking the cupholders would make a good place to anchor one if you didn't want to hinge it. Then you could just toss it on a seat when you want to get to the cup holders.

My feelings exactly. I don't think the cupholders are anchored but are removable and have a couple of positions where they lock to prevent front to back movement (based on photos).

Us old guys need to stick together although I'll make you feel young as I'm 61 .
