Its fine that the car was in development for a long time. My patience is wearing a bit thin over the fact that pricing and equipment isn't available at this point when considering the fact that its been announced for other markets and the car is supposedly only a couple of months away from launch.

Its getting a bit tiresome.

Yup. It will be 25k +/- 2000. Given that there is little else on the market today that is comparable (I mean really comparable, we aren't talking mustang vs camaro here), if you want the 86, you will have to pay for it. I bet the reason pricing is taking so long, is that they are trying precisely match supply from the factory with demand (ie, higher price). If they are selling all they can make, they can charge whatever they want.

So you're going to buy this no matter how much it costs, just because you can afford it? Makes perfect sense. I'm waiting for pricing because this car isn't worth more than 25k. It has nothing to do with what I can afford. If you don't consider price when deciding whether you want to buy a car or not... I just don't know

Personally I don't need a new car at all, and I think buying a new car is never a good financial decision. I thought this would be an awesome car so I was ready to buy it, but now I'm just not very excited about it anymore. Not enough to waste the tens of thousands of dollars in depreciation that comes with buying a new car. If it comes in on the low end of the price ranges people are estimating, sure I'll buy one because there are no better cars on the market today. If it is on the high end, not worth it. I'll wait for a used one or a more powerful version that is worth buying.

Also when rates from Subaru are 1.9% you lose money paying cash. Finance the car and invest that money and you'll make way more than 1.9% return on it and come out on top. Paying cash for a new car is like lighting money on fire.

I'm still driving my 2006 tC because, despite all of those RWD having great points, I'll be bored with them quickly or have to spend over a third of the car's worth to get them to handle like I want. I've also driven the Mazda Miata and Porsche Cayman... both awesome cars off the lot, but too impractical; I want my next car to be a daily driven auto-x/TT/HPDE that I can still transport my audio equipment. If the reviews for the FR-S/86 are an accurate reflection, the FR-S will be exactly what I want, so I'm willing to wait a little longer.
If all of those cars was so boring then why do you drive a Tc?

No, I'm going to buy it no matter what because I know the price is $25k+/-$2k. Are you people really acting like "Man, I have no idea what this car will cost! Could be anywhere from $10,000 to $45,000. Why won't they just release the price so I know if it's my price range!?!?!?!" Mid-20s. Can you afford that? This isn't complicated.

The FR-S isn't worth more than $22,500. I'm surprised some people would pay 25k-27k if that was the price.

Please read my post again. What I can afford has nothing to do with whether I want the car or not. The car is worth X dollars to me. It will cost Y. If Y <= X I will buy it.

just aim for a solid 25K, thats what i did as soon as the first86 stuff happened a month ago, been trying to cut expenses and save up for a solid downpayment since then...5k per month for 5 months and its paid off (LOL i wish)!!!

Hopefully rates stay low, my credit union was advertising 2% (but i dont know the term, prob 36mos) for new cars last week!!

I would pay 25k......i want to pay 23k but im willing to pay 25k, this will probably be the only new car i will buy in my lifetime so whatever, and im paying over half cash, because i want to, regardless of how low financing is, i want it paid for sooner than later......

The one thing i miss about my integra and old eg hatch was all the cargo room in the back and this car seems to follow that trend of being able to take your race rims, beer cooler and a tent to the track, race it and drive it home....

Thats hard to do in a 370z, nsx, s2k, and miata.....without a trailer
