I'm in the same boat.
I used to have an 06 wrx which I totally regret selling, I sold it to buy the new WRX but ended up buying a 370z, which bored the crap out of me.
hi-reving engines bore the crap out of me but I want to give the
BRZ a chance at least to test drive it before I go back to the WRX.

I'm not quite in the same boat, since I wasn't planning to buy one until next year anyway. But the months and months of teasing and hyping (and still no usdm specs/price) have been leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

The fact is, I don't need a new car, and on a day to day basis my WRX does everything I ask of it. Buying an FRS makes no financial sense for me it's just something I've wanted to do, but lately it's becoming harder and harder to justify.

I've seriously been considering taking the $30k+ (after taxes and interest) I would have spent on an FRS and using it to build an A-Mod instead. Hell, I've already started analyzing the last couple of Solo Nationals courses.

Eh, I'm in no real hurry.

The only cars I'm looking at are a used 2011 WRX, or a FR-S/BRZ. No other cars are appealing to me right now.

The kicker is I'd like to be as close to $20,000 as possible, and none of these cars will be that for at least a year, year and a half.

So unless I can "comfortably afford" the car then I'll have to wait. Unless my wife and I get new jobs or we win the Lotto.

Plus like someone else said, people have been waiting for a couple of years; what's a few more weeks months?

Yes, I'm moving on.

All the waiting time Scion/Toyota has allowed, made me be more rational about this car and my needs. Instead of buying a brand new FR-S, I can use that money to buy two used cars w/ relatively low miles; one for dd/family and another for track. A much happier choice for the entire family instead of forcing my wife to drive manuals and to fit our young daughter into the cramped backseat of the FR-S.

That said, a reliable source has tipped me that a base FR-S will be somewhere around $23K and Scion/Toyota has been waiting for Hyundai to release the pricing for the new GC. Now that it's been released, I foresee that the pricing info for FR-S/BRZ will also be released soon.

I think that FR-S and BRZ will be a great little fun car as Toyota has been preaching, but is the "Bring back the Fun" mantra going to be enough to mask all of its weak performance figures? Is it really justifiable given its relatively high price tags?

The initial success of this car seems almost guaranteed at this point judging by all the magazine reviews as well as people's reactions especially this forum. However, the long-term success is yet to be seen and also questionable considering the weak performence of this niche segment.

I'm happy with a mere fact that there will be another rwd coupe that is relatively lightweight and affordable. The dying breed, indeed. Hopefully, the ultimate success of FR-S/BRZ will spark other manufacturers to look into this once deserted segment.

Maybe, I will pick one up used in few years. Good luck to ya all!

I've been doing this since 07 when it was rumors 09 is when the concept showed up. I'm sure they'll curse me with more wait, by April just watch. But you do bring up some good points and that GC is starting to look better and better. But I'm going stick it out and do what I do best, wait some more.

There is nothing else new and good out there! The 2013 genesis coupe is over priced...why would you buy that over a 2013 mustang? $34k for a loaded v6 genny coupe? Hell 2 da no!

Everybody wants to know the price. It's still too early. We won't get the pricing until we are able to order. That's what happened in Japan and in europe. We are close guys just hand in there. Buy a old s15 or rx8 or s2000? No way it's time to go new!

We are 3.5 months away...and you do know it could be 3 months after this car comes out before you are able to get one because of demand and production...

The release date hasn't changed so what are you freaking out about? Way to make incredibly short sighted decisions.

Me, I'm waiting, I'm just worried this car is gonna be unaffordable for me since we just leased a 2012 Impreza. I'm in the same boat as most needing to know how much this friggin car is gonna be. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if this car gets over $25k, i'm going used EVO or STI.

Talk about lack of patience...crimony.

Feel free to get a Hyundai...

***For everyone bitching about lack of pricing info...the pricing range for this car should be within 1-2K of where you think it will be. If you are that concerned with a G or two, maybe you shouldn't
be buying a new car.

THIS!!! I have a 2012 Tc that's perfect for DD. I'm still able to put a grip of money off to the side every month too between myself and my wife. It would be too easy, to get another fun car to play with and keep this-especially when my wife supports it, loves it, and encourages it 100%

S15s weren't sold here and finding a complete one that hasn't been destroyed will cost you almost $30k CASH-since it's a grey market vehicle. I'd rather not get an Rx8. Still too pricey for an N/A Rotary that's considerably ugly-My opinion of course.

As for S2Ks, I've never been a fan, but they've grown on me a bit recently.... but I would still NEVER own one. I already know that if I choose to step away from this, I'll be getting into another S13. I would more than likely sell the Tc for the time being, and later down the road, I would get into another DD-probably a used WRX or something along those lines.

I'd consider a WRX STI hatchback a better car overall than the GT86 to be honest.

That would be the car in my garage if it didn't cost an arm and a leg here.. It costs 81,000$ !! (Taxation on it alone is around $40,000..)

Still considering a used one tho...

I wished Honda wouldn't be so blant and get it's game together....a S2k Replacement, a new Integra, a better looking SI, a more beefed up CRZ the return of the Prelude etc etc. That would totally... really but that's a dream world. And remember if you're paying anything close to 29K or 30... you can actually afford a old Cayman or a 370Z
