I'm fine with paying MSRP. It could possibly be worth slightly more than that to me, if you don't get one of the cars in the first batch and live in the north like me, once summer is over, you might as well just wait till next spring. I'd only pay over MSRP because it's a time sensitive thing and I don't wanna wait another year.

Speaking of that, since Ive never bought a scion before, is that pure price thing still negotiable or are dealers not allowed to do that?

It is exactly as it sounds and says..
"No haggle"

You can't negotiate anything. What's printed is what you pay + tax and registration.

However, like Dave mentioned... it might not even be MSRP.

Most of the time what ever they price it is what you pay, there's nothing else that can be changed. But I have seen some rebates or some wavings of fee and stuff from Scion before. Althought... we can't be too sure of the FRS because it's a halo car and it's probably a big demand for them, really can't tell until it's at least a year.

I thought the rebate was valid for any Scion regardless.. Oops. I doubt they will advertise a higher price than sticker though.

My Subaru dealer a few weeks ago offered me 500 over invoice if I pre-order. Wonder if I should try to jump on that now...

I wonder if Scion is going to go thru with that online ordering thing. It be something to configure your FRS and just have it delivered like that, that's pretty revolutionary. Highly doubt that it would happen but I'm interested.

You should probably start talking to dealers and stuff especially with a deal like that, if you want your Car by this year I would suggest everyone start talking now lol

I think you guys underestimate the greediness of many dealerships. My local dealer put a $7,500 "market adjustment" on top of the MSRP of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe when they first came out!

I am excited about the car. I am not excited about the buying experience. This will be my first time purchasing a brand-new car and I soooooo don't want the headache of trying to work a "deal" with a salesman.

Pure Pricing is cool because, like buying any other retail product, I can find the advertised price and get it from that retailer or look elsewhere. It is unfortunate the BRZ will require deal-making because, frankly, I don't want any of that. This is why the SoCal group buy makes sense -- but if we all line up at one dealership, it's going to take a while before everyone's car comes in.

Who knows a Subaru store in the southeastern US that would lock in a decent price like Guccin has arranged in Cali?

Do a dealer search and start emailing sales managers. That's the best way to find a dealer quickly that will make a deal with you.

I personally HATE no haggle pricing. I don't enjoy haggling but I do enjoy feeling that I "won"

I like feeling like won too, but I'd rather just avoid the process all together.

+1

Everytime a desirable car has come out the dealers around me always either add the market adjustment fee or in the case of pure pricing dealers the dealer owner actually buys the car and then it gets sold as a "used" vehicle with a substantial mark-up.

Edit: The above is actually how all Ferrari's are bought. Ferrari will not manufacturer a car without a name on the title. That is how they always get above MSRP prices. Otherwise you are waiting 5 months to put your order in and get the car produced. Rich people aren't willing to wait that long. They want their Ferrari now.

Plus they have the disposable income to pay that increase. For us common folk, every few hundred-thousand bucks makes a difference.

I'm in Southeast PA.

If Scion offers the college graduate rebate, I may have to jump ship.

Holy shit that is shady as fuck. I'd call up scion corporate and tell them that is happening, I doubt they are supposed to do that.
