Just wait if your local dealer is trying to sell MSRP +. Do you need the car right away? Just give it a few months for supply to catch up with demand.

Wait 6 months and you will be fine.
? I thought zgrinch said him and dave have a set deal with x over invoice. My dealer told me the price would be around msrp. Who knows what that means but 2-3k sounds like an absolute ball breaker... johnny cage style

Yes but he went to visit another dealership. Was it in GA?

I'm not even 100% sure he was the one mentioning the Subaru dealer that was asking over MSRP for the BRZ. I need to search for that post.

I would like to sell my WRX and hop in a BRZ at the beginning of summer. If they're going to sell it marked up, I won't buy it right before winter. I'll either wait til the spring comes around again or I just won't get one at all and wait 'til my 67K Bugeye dies. That was the original plan anyway, I wasn't really in the market for a new car for at least another few years. This car has me interested in all the right ways, but not in a $2K over MSRP way.

My local dealer generally sells under MSRP. I got this WRX $700 over invoice in 2001 from them, but I'm not sure if they gouged the STI when it came out. If they did, it's a pretty good indicator they're going to gouge the BRZ.

If the price isn't what you want to pay then don't buy the car. I've got a deposit down for a spot in line but if they try any of that market adjustment bullshit I'm gonna split.

just got off the phone with a very popular dealership telling me...that they already have alot of pre orders for the BRZ and they need to hold off cause there only sending a few to every dealer...he didnt want to tell me how many each dealer is getting...but i kinda squeeze the answer out of him (of course he doesnt know the CORRECT NUMBER) he said 8-10 only and thats not for one month thats for 4 months!!!! so there really going to be in high demand! im smelling dealer marks up!

also the people that did pre order them...will get the car at the end of May!!! its comfirmed i saw there shipping paper at the dealership that my friend works at ( im sorry but i cant say the name of that dealer )

Finally found the info I was looking for:

I was traveling to GA today on business and stopped by a Subaru dealership after my meeting to look at some DMG cars, and there is no question that is the color I'm getting...I love it. As a side note, I started chatting up the rep about the BRZ and he said he knew a little about the car, but he said his sales manager had six people already on the list. The sales manager came out to talk with me and honestly he had a little "know-it-all" attitude. We started to discuss his wait list and I asked if he gave them any special deals...and he said oh yes, they are going to pay 2k OVER MSRP. I told him no way I would pay that rate, and he stated that all of them already knew they were paying over MSRP and they still wanted to be on the list. What a rip off - I will never step foot in that place again.

After this visit - I'm very thankful that Dave-ROR got me hooked up.
Thanks again Dave.

I suspect this will be dealership by dealership issue. I know that when the STI came out some dealers priced over MSRP and others did not. Just depends what your area/local dealer does. No way to predict. However dealerships tend to do this with a new launch. It could happen here with the BRZ. YMMV.

Yes we have been told in the past dealerships will get around 1-2 cars per month. So this is nothing new.

Sounds like it's up to the Test Drive for me now, I think I'll go put down a Deposit to guarantee me a Test drive. Problem is that you don't really get to test the car on these drives it be hard to tell if the FRS or BRZ is more to my liking. But I do have to say that price thing for Scion looks good right now.

Also I'm telling you guys start asking your CARMAX too they get new vechicles usually they're auto and base models but they get them, That might be a place to ask. The don't only sell used cars, I have a friend that works in there and he'll le t me know the moment they get info on BRZ. When the Sti came out Carmax had 4 for the nation. But you can just jump on them because Carmax works like SCION they wont mark it up. I'm just trying to help everyone out, keep an eye on them just in case.

sounds about right. dealers will get 1-2 per month which will likely get sold quick and there wont be any to choose from on the lot so you must order. hopefully they dont sell the demos too so you can atleast test drive.
