Try Jerry's at (512) 990-0721
They are in Pflugerville if that's not too bad a trip. I'm curious to see what they quote - not sure if I got a better quote since they did tires for my wife's car. |

Oh, also, does anyone here have the Asphalt or DGM in Pflugerville? I didn't catch the branding - just the color and it looked like it had a TRD exhaust so my guess is FR-S. I saw it coming from Kelly lane and heading towards Best Buy/Target/etc. I've only seen it once so I was hoping my car had friends in the neighborhood.

One thing you want to do when installing very low lowering springs like the sportlines is to make sure they cut the bump stops quite a bit shorter than stock. If you don't, you will be activating the bump stops a lot driving on imperfect roads and your car will suddenly lose grip for no reason if you drive fast at all.

Colven works on a lot of high up vehicles so they are pretty trustworthy. If you find a better deal though take it if the shop isn't gbg.

The Sportlines come with new bump stops. I think using the ones that came with the springs will avoid that problem.
Just called Jerry's. The guy said he's gonna call me a bit later with a price. Colven seemed very reliable, but I'm just trying to find something a bit cheaper. Everywhere I read says the job should take about 2 hours. Colven said it would be 6 hours at $90/hour. The 2 other shops are saying 12 hours for installation. That's BS. Hopefully Semprini can get me the info for his shop. I'm looking to keep it under $350. |

Yeah I remember colven telling me 3 hrs for the coilovers but they finished in 1.5 so only charged me like 200 after everything. But I wouldn't pay 500 either for springs.

If coilovers came preassembled, it will take a lot less time than springs. with springs they have to compress the old ones, undo the top hat, compress the new ones, reinstall the top hat...

Jerry's was from me - they did my wife's tires and I had asked about springs when I met her there.
And 6 hours is crazy. If I had a torque wrench, jack stands, and a compressor, I could probably do this in 2-3 hours with a buddy so a shop at 6-12 hours is nuts. These springs are built for a pretty light car so they are a whole lot easier than trying to re-spring some 3-ton truck. Poking around the DIY section, one guy did it himself with no compressors or air tools in less than 4 hours. I think part of their quote includes 3 hours of road-testing your car ![]() Quote:

Well hopefully Jerry's calls back and gives me a decent price. If not then the next best option would be to go with Colven's @ $90/hour and hope they work fast! They told me the computer said 6.4 hours labor, but they could probably do it quicker. I don't know if I'd want to take the gamble though and end up paying $560. They seem legit and like they would work fast, but there's no guarantee.

What do you guy's think about starting a new thread dedicated to resources in the Austin area? Recommendation's, or not, for shop's, individuals, dealer's even store's you're had experiences with.
