225/50/R16 BFG Rivals on 16x7 rims.

You'd get a lighter rim, and tire is same weight and tread width as 225/45/17, but a slightly smaller diameter over 225/45/17.
I guess it would depend on how much weight you will save per corner overall by going with the 16 versus the 17. The 0.1" difference in diameter is going to be completely unnoticeable. Negatively, you are going to lose a little bit of sharpness in turn in response and add a bit of compliance with the added sidewall height.

I cannot find a lightweight 16x7 with proper offset. The only wheels I find are ~20 lbs.

The DC Pro this weekend will give me a gauge of how far I am from where I want to be... but the looming rain may still not help me find a comfort zone.
I'm in the same boat, but without the rain. With some additional toe changes, tire psi adjustments, and Koni adjustable shocks, it seems that I am able to make the bar work. Both my co-driver and I are able to get the power on early and still have good rotation with the Rivals. The car feels pretty neutral, but with a hint of understeer.

I have the Strano bar on order and am looking forward to doing some comparisons and see what adjustments I need to make set-up-wise.

Just FYI, saw on another forum the July Fastrack will have the BRZ moving to ES along with the NB Miatas (except the 2003 Club Sport). Not really a rumor it came from one of the SEB members.

So might need to change the thread title.

I saw that as well Phil. We'll see how it shakes up. The popularity of the twins can drive this proposal.

I was starting to think that CS was a good fit for the twins. Does anyone think that ES would help the twins?

I agree, CS seemed like the place for them to be since they were moving the MSR MX-5 and ZOK out of CS. Can we get a source for this rumor?

The twins would probably be a more dominant car in ES.

There are some really good Miata drivers out there so I think at a national level it will still be tough. The 99 Sport model may be faster on some courses. Bart Borowski has run faster than CS at nationals and national events in a 94 Miata. However except for a few guys I think the twins are easier to drive fast and will win over the other ES cars.

If the twins go to ES, it will become a spec class... I donno, not sold that this is the answer either. Starting to get the impression this is all become knee-jerk decisions without any solid data.... what's wrong with getting proper data?

Well that snuck up on me...

I don't think there is any way that could fly. I'd love it for the PAX and to be in a 90% dominant car but it's not fair overall.

There is another driver locally in an NB. He is a better driver than I am, I have no qualms about that. He cannot beat me in his NB or driving other people's NBs.

Next year, ES is already going to be a bunch of pissed of 94 owners I believe when the 99s stomp them but to then squash all NA AND NB owners at once? A little too much IMO. Especially when the NB guys just got happy to get away from the MSR cars!

You know, it's amazing how certain SEB members will leak information, but then have the balls to tell the members of the SAC that they can't be trusted. This SEB is a joke. They can't even be bothered to get out to the National events they make the rules for, all the while claiming they are trying to get numbers up. Hey Emperor... your new clothes are sharp!!!!!

I think the twins to ES is not wise, no reason if the hot-rods get bumped from CS anyway, but then again this kind of stuff is why I quit.

CS is the perfect class for the car as there is competition with a good driver namely. ES will just make it look better on paper but less fun better for new drivers I guess.

I guess we'll find out if there's any truth to this rumor in the July fastrack. Hopefully the twins stay in CS.
