I know the theory. How is this relevant for C Street in this car? I'm yet to hear any report of rear tire lift in this class+car. And if there are a few from really gripppy lots, I'm sure those are minor enough so that the bigger FSB is enough to fix those.

gives people something to experiment with

also, you're assuming everyone has the funds for a swaybar

for instance, this year my budget went towards tires, pads and a datalogger. Next year i hope to have enough for a swaybar and maybe dampers.

so for this year, unhooking things is my only tunning option

although feel free to send me a strano bar or similar, i'll gladly put that on.

I'm assuming anyone can play with tire pressures. I'd spend the money on a good tire temperature gauge before I spend it on FSB (or data acquisition for that matter). You'd learn a whole lot more in real-time.

One can do a lot with tire pressures, especially someone who's willing to compromise overall grip by disconnecting RSB.
I'd argue for trying really high tire pressures up front (but you'd need a tire temp gauge to tell if you're getting high enough), instead of disconnecting RSB.

Okay

So some local pricing finally came down and I can get a set of Yokohama AD08R for around 1100 dollars (CAD) all expenses in, to my door.

I want to do a competitive run at C-Stock this year, my only mods will be camber bolts, otherwise the car is stock and there is zero budget for anything else.

Reading the limited reviews, it seems that I should go with the 245/45/17, with the 45 vs 40 to help with the pinching.

However, given that i’m on a stock swaybar, I’m wondering if this might be too much and if I should go down to 235/45 instead.

Although given the price, im also wondering if I should look for ZIIs instead, but finding a fresh set will be hard around here :/

Yokos are damn expensive.

245/45/17 will be quite a bit taller than stock. I would not attempt.

26mm if the calculators are right..

arn't people after a bit taller gearing though? Or i guess that's area dependent..

Tirerack.com doesn't deliver to Canada? With the price difference between what you are going to spend on the Yokohama's and the ZIIs, you could easily get a front sway bar.

For the longest time, I was in favor of the taller gearing. However, I have since changed my mind, the numbers in a best case scenario didn't make a case for the slowed acceleration.

I'd highly recommend the ZII and I'd definitely go 235 instead of 245 on a street tire. I'm hoping to get a chance to do a test of 245 ZIIs on 7" wheels soon though.

Just an FYI, my 235/40s came out to actually be minutely taller than my 215/45s even though specs said they would be slightly shorter. You an see it when they are stacked next to each other. Also, my 4th gear rev limiter (obviously not autocrossing at that time) picked up 1mph (108 vs 107). Extremely minute.

Go with the lighter, shorter, quicker accelerating tire if you ask me.

i did the math on the ZII's from tirerack, i'm not winning after conversion, shipping, customs and taxes . Well, maybe a little bit, but not enough for a swaybar. Also in this particular case i really do want to support local.

also from what i understand the ZIIs being sold right now are last remaining stock.. new ones wont hit shelves till November?!

Unfortunately true. Now is the last chance to order ZIIs for a while

we have tried various sizing.
215, 225, 235, 245
to be honest the 245 has felt the best out of all the tires.
the way we have our car set up it is very neutral with no worries of under or step out oversteer.

i mean however in the end it all depends on driving style.
to be less than half a second behind a high caliber driver in a 370z is good enough for me. on the previous 225 set up we could not come even close to him.
