Nice! I was on the fence between the Fiesta ST and Focus ST as I need something to replace my 02 ZX3. Decided to pull the trigger on the Focus ST and ordered it four weeks ago. Should be interesting to see how G Street plays out this year!

Me too -- but my co-driver Mark already has a Focus ST, and I was eager to see how they stack up.

If I was picking a daily, I'd pick the Focus for sure. What a car.

Whenever you bring out the FRS again Benny and I will be waiting I'll let Josh and Mark deal with you in GS in the mean time

Question, the way I read the rules seemed to be that I could upgrade the car in any way as to comply with any option package offered on the car (as long as it was a complete conversion). Does that mean I could go out and buy the OEM spoiler to convert my standard FRS into the a 10 series? Would I also need to get the OEM HID headlights, spray my car that grey and get glowing emblems; or are "cosmetic" modifications not considered in the conversion?

You are correct that you must convert FULLY if you change the trim level, but you are allowed to use the exceptions for modifications allowed under other portions of the ruleset so...

spray the car grey: You can legally repaint the car, so leaving it the way it is is legal.

headlights: In section 13.2a, lights are explicitly allowed to be modified as long as they are not substantially lighter, so no, I don't think you need to swap for the HIDs.

emblems: I've always been under the assumption that you are supposed to keep all the emblems and they must be original, with that said I don't see how they don't fall under cosmetic, as long as they aren't removed.

I realized you were talking about series 10 after I wrote the following more specifically against the monogram edition.. but as it applies to monogram...

stereo: you can leave the head unit, but you need the same # of speakers in the same locations as the monogram along with any associated trim (if they are different)

dual zone climate control: this will need to be swapped

push button start: this will need to be installed

spoiler: will need to be installed

alcantera heated seats: will need to be installed

with all this said, doesn't Scion have the spoiler listed as an accessory for the standard car?

The spoiler is a dealer option, however the rules were not clear to me on if you could install those kinds of options after the fact or not.

I believe the monogram is a 2014 model year option package, not sure if you can cross years like that.

I've replaced all my speakers and head unit...everything still exists in the stock location but your comments have me worried.

Sorry to be pedantic and I personally don't care that much about classing, but if I'm going to compete in national level events I don't want to get hit with any surprises.

Correct, you cannot update backdate different years in street... just was giving as a hypothetical example.

Optional equipment as prescribed by the manufacturer are perfectly legal. The spoiler falls under this.

Using non-OE (this includes TRD, NISMO, STi, etc...) dealer install options is what is not legal... so basically TRD short shifters, TRD intake systems (unless it is a drop-in filter), etc... would not be legal, even if it were in the dealership catalog as "performance" equipment.

As far as the stereo, the rule basically reads that you can't intentionally remove comfort/convenience in order to save weight. So long as it's comparable, you shouldn't have an issue with any type of audio system.

Here is my video from this past weekend.

I made several mistakes, but still good enough to take 2nd place. 1.7 seconds off Jeff Stuart in the 370z.
This was definitely a power course, but with all the rain we had this weekend it was better than a technical course that would need to be fixed every other run.
We did tire testing with the AD08R and

please note that majority of the tire testing was done on saturday afternoon.
conditions were "sunny", but still a little damp.

we ran 18 runs continuously. the tires were definitely hot to the touch, but there were no fall out in grip.

prior to this set up we were running on the BFG Rivals. These yokohama's were definitely quieter and provided the same if not even more grip than the rivals under full later load. the sidewalls do seem a little bit stiffer, but speaking with other people who were testing this weekend they had mixed opinions in comparison of sidewall rigidity.

the overall width of the tire is slightly bigger compared to the BFG

however to sum up the saturday practice, there was our car (S2 prepped) and a STR s2000 that put down the fastest times in their class while running on the AD08R.

This may sound silly considering I have one in the garage but where is everyone at weight-wise and under what conditions (exhaust delete, partial fuel, wheels, etc)?

quoting myself from an old (8/2012) post:

FWIW, my BRZ premium weighed 2,650 on the scales at the Dover SuperShootout. I didn't bother recording corner weights because the setup wasn't perfectly level. That was just finished running - no trunk/interior junk, fuel light just on, 15.5 lb wheels, otherwise completely stock.
Only weight changes since then have been the custom exhaust at ~22 lb savings and the Strano bar vs the Cusco, for maybe another 1 lb savings. I've not felt the need to weigh it since.

What do stock/street RX-8's weigh?

Thanks John! I thought I saw a weight on here somewhere but I couldn't remember which thread it was in. I have the spoiler and fogs, so I may be a little heavier than you, but not by much.

I think the RX-8 will weigh in around 2850lbs with low gas, basing it on where other people are. I was actually looking into it yesterday, which is why I made this post.

You know it is time for the off-season to be over when you start bench racing your own cars against each other.

The CS winning 370Z from last year was in the 3250lb range.
