I'm running a '17, but I'm basically in DS prep. Wanted to wait to swap out to the TRD parts till next season to see if they change the classing around or not. I still have a bit of driver mod to do to be competitive anyway.

I keep seeing your sig about the axle back, is it available online anywhere? I really want an axle back for my 86 in CS.

And I know I'll be flamed for this... but I noticed a huge difference with the TRD springs, the car felt far less boaty and made it a blast through the slaloms. Most people will say that it's just for the bump stops and/or CG, but the springs rates are a lot better than stock.

If it didn't make a difference then they wouldn't class cars differently based on whether or not the springs were equipped.

That's the one. They implemented the simple solution of slotting the bolt holes in the flange so that they fit both the older and newer cars. Fit just fine on mine.

I'm also running a 17' in CS, with RPF1, RE71 and OEM camber bolt. I'm hoping they will switch the 2017 to DS.

Exactly! Trust me I know, but a lot of people keep telling me otherwise and it's really frustrating lol

I doubt those people are autocrossers then, it doesn't take long in the sport to realize what different spring rates can yield. If you presume the TRD's are in fact Eibachs there's a big difference.

Hell they're stiffer than Ohlins.

It looks like there's only a few of us brave/dumb enough to try CS at Nationals this year!

I finally got the TRD bars on my car and tried it out last weekend, and the car feels quite different from my prior set up with only the 19mm Perrin up front (and TRD springs). I expected the car to be similar to that set up or even more loose since I was adding the rear bar, but it seemed to have a little more understeer on entry than I expected. I was also on BFGs for the first time instead of my usual Kumhos, so that was a bit different too. I think I have an idea where I'd like to be on tire pressures and shock settings now, but I hope to get a slightly better idea once I get some practice in Lincoln. I was still a bit back from the Nat-winning ND drivers in my region, but the gap was not as big as usual.

Unfortunately, I broke/cross-threaded/bent an ARP wheel stud yesterday, but once that's resolved, I'm ready for Lincoln!

Was that the first event on the BFG?

If so, they will be better the next event or two.

It was my second event (both at sealed FedEx lot) on the BFGs. I'll have one practice course session at Nats before the main event. Everyone keeps telling me that they will improve after a couple events.

I'm still a little worried I made the wrong choice because I feel like my driving style suits the Bridgestone/Kumho a little better. The BFG is no doubt an awesome tire, but it seems like it's more of an easy button to go fast rather than the "nailed it" feeling I had with the Bridgestone/Kumho... but times don't lie and they've been great so far with the BFGs.

That seems kind of like my experience on the BFGs and the Nexens were even more different in some ways.

The BFGs let you get away with a bit more than the 'stones, but you never really felt like you had a hero run because it always felt a little sloppy when you were really pushing. You HAVE to drive like a nutcase to make them work, at least in my experience.

The Nexens are this weird in between ground in that you can get away with making mistakes, but reward precise driving.

Keep in mind, my experience is on a FoRS... I never ran BFGs on my BRZ. The 'stones on my Mustang feel the same as they did on the BRZ though... gotta be precise.

So with not 1 2017 86/BRZ competing in CS at Nats, what does that mean for our future classification?

Current CS results, they post live updates to this site for all major solo events. And there's a live feed of the announcing on the home page for each course.
