Yes.

I ran on the Bridgestones for the first time this weekend on sealed asphalt. I'm so used to the Hankooks that I need to make some adjustments to get the RE71R to suit my driving style better. Compared to the Hankooks, they seem very quiet on course. There was a well driven two-driver RX8 on Rival S and another on Z2* that put down times very close to mine, so it should give me some insight on all the new tires.

Also... I know it's early, but does anyone have a seat in a BRZ/FR-S available for Nationals this year? I have a car to drive in another class, but I'd really prefer to stick with my same car and platform I know.

Yes - this is what you should do unless you know what you're doing.

Knowing what you're doing = you know your brake temps front and rear and are selecting compounds with the appropriate heat ranges for each, OR you're trying to modify your brake balance (better to do that with a proportioning valve, but I digress).

Maybe. I haven't decided if I will take a codriver for nats yet, I'm not really thinking that far. Given how many twins there were last year I don't think you'll have a problem finding a seat.

Regarding the FiveAxis spoiler, I contacted Troy at FiveAxis and he confirmed for me that their spoiler was installed as a Port Option in the Southeast Toyota (SET) region from mid 2012-2013, so it should be legal on CS/STX cars.

Need documentation. Also, I would advise you to contact SCCA about the ruling. Doubt there was much thought into how SCCA rules pertain to OEM regional distributors.

Opening a can of worms can be fun! (ask me how I know )

Get your official documentation, write a letter to the SEB, and get out there! Good luck!

Working on the documentation. What is SEB and where do I contact?

The local clubs are fine with it, it's attending the Canadian Nationals in August that I'm worried about.

Unless you're going to the US Solo Nationals, no one is going to give even a tenth of a shit about your spoiler in CS.

These 2015 tires are insane. Took top index at a local for the first time ever this past weekend.

The 245 BFG on a 7" rim is definitely a little mushy but it makes grip. 3k RPM launches at this site normally meant wheel spin, I was launching over 4k and still bogging. Didn't wanna push harder, I'm saving my axle-snapping for this week's pro.

I was launching at 6k RPM on 235/45/17 RE71R on concrete and still bogging......

I hate these new tires. I feel like I'm going to snap an axle at the Pro as well....and I don't have a spare.

I understand your hate a lot better now.

No spare here either. I'm in street class, I don't need spares...right?

I got ice mode 3 times last Sunday on the re71r, and I'd only gotten it twice before in three full seasons on Z2 and RS3s. I cannot fully blame the tires since every car was 3-wheeling in that higher-speed braking area, but I have some testing to do. Also, I'm not on the TRD setup... yet.

Are you doing the pedal dance?

No. My codriver got ice mode on one run at Nats last year on the big course, and I got it twice on separate occasions years apart on our local sealed and bumpy asphalt lots. Those are the only instances, so as of now, I'm calling it an anomaly and blaming my driving and not being accustomed to the new tires.

If the problem comes back or becomes regular, I'll consider doing the pedal dance.
