Doh.. there are potential interference issues, which is actually why I had to shorten mine to begin with (with the plan to replace my WL endlinks). They've been sitting wherever they ended up for a few months now, not replacing my WL endlinks. But some day! Anyway, some bars need shorter links. If you get them the same length and don't cause any interference issues you're good.

Wait, is that why I did so much worse at my last event (my first in CS on RS3s) than I've been doing all year? Maybe I need to get back on race tires. I had the harder compound Z214s in CSR so I expected to pax better.

It's running same heat as CS, but I considered renting out my CS seat and getting tires for CSR lol, but that killed that idea

But the last thing I found was a plastic tray under the car loose. I'm going to need a shrink if I don't stop hearing clunks.
It never needs to be very loose. The worst it was I could bounce one corner while parked and get the clunk, and then I got just about a whole turn on the worst nut and about a half on two of the other three. The noise was quite disconcerting. Sounded (and felt) like a worn out tie rod end. A tiny bit loose makes for a lot of knocking back and forth in a tight spot. Most of the other times it's a half turn or less on one or two of the nuts. When I go autocrossing, I give them a good yanking with the wrenches preemptively during the tire change.

But discovering that the endlink nuts backing off was the problem was the result of a couple nights under the car. I thought maybe the subframe bolts didn't get torqued correctly, so I pulled the whole damn thing off and re-did that. Twice. Thought maybe I jacked up a wheel bearing or tore a bushing. And then it was more of an "I wonder..." If I had any hair left, I would have pulled it out.

Go try to tighten the endlinks even if they don't feel loose. The last time I had a clunk that fixed it, even though I couldn't feel any play with shaking it.

The other thing to try is to disconnect one of the endlinks, go drive around the block and try to make the clunk happen. If it's gone when you disconnect, it's an endlink (or, rarer, an issue with the sway bar itself).

I didn't get around to it last night but I'll probably get under the car tonight and try to figure it out. I think you're right, it probably is a loose nut on the endlink. God I hope. Thinking about adding jamb nuts.

It happens with big bars and/or too much paint on the bars (usually Whiteline). Need to run the car a bit to work the paint down and then retighten the nut. That, or remove the paint and hope it doesn't rust

My Whiteline started clunking Sat. Thanks to the info here I found the drivers side endlink nut was loose. All better now.

ProSolo results

The first twin in CS at the ProSolo finale this weekend was 6th of 11 places.

But 5 of the top 7 in STX were twins (including 1 and 2).

It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the classing next season.

Yeah I think it will be somewhat interesting, but I think we'll have to wait on the Solo results. Nothing against the 86 drivers in CS but the top guys in the class are pretty damn good. STX was really close from 1-10.

That was me. 4th ever pro I've run and - more importantly - first time ever on this surface. Got the tire pressures wrong Saturday am and went the wrong direction Saturday pm. Sunday I went the right direction but had to regain a lot of trust and confidence in the car. I only got it dialed in today.

Like dwx said it was a tough class. I told some other hotshoe the list of people who beat me, his words: "that's a pretty good list!" Also note that I'm still on OEM shocks so there's some room for improvement.

I had Paul Brown beat on scratch times in El Toro so I think I could've driven better too. I like the pro format but it's clear I need to adjust my game a bit to do well with it.

See you guys tomorrow!

Yeah, I worded that poorly. I was meaning for it to indicate how the Solo Finale might play out, which in turn should affect car classes.

Sorry for getting ahead of myself.
