It does bear some resemblance to the mazda look but with one very important difference, the mazda looks to have a seriously goofy smile going on while the expression on the BRZ reminds me of a runner's mouth pulling in air.

It's not bad but it WILL look bad with a front plate on it. Mine's got to come undrilled!

I agree, both cars have their aesthetic downsides up front. It's a big reason why I'm ambivalent on which to buy. Even seeing them in person didn't sway me one way or the other. So, we need the "cheeks" of the BRZ combined with the "nose" of the FR-S. That'd get rid of the headlight overhang and the plastic mouth.

This might be an instance where aftermarket make a better looking bumper.

I think both cars look fine, but the BRZ is a little more restrained and mature then the FRS. When I was 20 I might have wanted the more agressive look of the FRS but not now.

The FRS front end looks too aggressive. IMO, when things are over styled, they dont really stand the test of time... Like the 2000s celica

I personally think the BRZ is the MOST beautiful Subaru ever produced. Technically they didn't style it, but it's still wearing a Subaru badge nonetheless. Subaru is famous for hideous cars, but this is certainly not one of them.

You can.. either not buy the BRZ if you think its really that fugly.

Switch the bumpers out with the FRS (which is possible) so you don't have the smiley face anymore

or

Do a little research on what the smiley face with a mouth guard does. (And it does have a purpose)

I think it looks sexy...ill tell you this...back in 2007 people were making fun of the evolution 10 and how its front end looked like a pig or trying to look like Audi...but people are saying other wise..

I think the BRZ front end looks pure sexy...and I can't wait to see it in person...but that's just my 2 cents

I find myself in the same boat, love the BRZ interior, but love the TRD version of the exterior better.
