Toyota and Subaru markets this car as a "blank canvas", so a strong aftermarket at launch equates to greater sales.

Should be some Impreza carry over as well, which should bolster the market initially or at least shorten time between development and release.

So Cusco say parts avail from March 2012, which is as early as 25 days away but yet car isnt released and 90% of the world doesnt have a clue as to final selling price or even what their country will have as stock fitment.

This is super poor effort, super poor.

Its getting away from you Toyota, its getting away.

I was thinking the exact same thing, all the s2k guys loved those things......

Street car, plus full cage ( padded or not) equals death in an accident

I haven't seen the design of this cusco cage, but in general, they don't belong in race cars even (Cusco cages I mean). The bends make them so inherently weak that they are dangerous. And the main hoop brace goes over the passenger instead of the driver when it's in a LHD car, etc.

So if this Cusco cage is like their normal ones, the ONLY thing it belongs in is a trailered show car.

How so?

I think this is exactly what Toyota wants. Toyota/Subaru designed a car that they intend for people to modify, it was one of the cornerstones of the project. So, Toyota gives production-ready prototypes to the big, boutique aftermarket brands (Greddy, Cusco, HKS, Tom's, Eibach) to get a jump on R&D...enabling them to get have parts in production before the car is released. This way when the easily modifiable Subaru/Toyota/Scion hits the showrooms there are a full compliment of aftermarket parts available at the same time. Brilliant.

Far better than some manufacturers have done where the car owners are waiting for months (or years) before they are able to get aftermarket parts.
