Looking to set my car up with something similar to this. You still running this sort of alignment Mike? What about the rake?

Nope... not even close.

Holy thread necromancy.

I know, but I couldn't find a more up to date thread covering track alignments. Is there one?

Would you care to share what you discovered about alignments, ride heights and rake settings over the past couple of years, or is it a well kept secret?

We're happy to give baselines if you need a starting point and tips on arriving at your optimal alignment but anything super specific is reserved for our clients due to the changes necessary to suit each individual client's setup and driving style, as well as venue and event type.

Unfortunately there is no "one size fits all", and giving a generic number will only make us look bad when you get a case where the blanket recommendation was completely off.

Thanks Mike. I understand there are so many variables to getting a wheel alignment that suits, and completely respect the fact that you'd want to keep what you've learn't for your paying customers.

I've taken a brief look at your build thread, but beyond the "MCA Red" and whiteline bushings, I have no idea how your car's suspension is set up.

What exactly is on the car, spring rates included, how is it currently aligned, and how is the car currently behaving? How would you like for that behavior to change?

I need all of this info to give you a baseline to start with. It's not that the information is not available to people who aren't paying customers, but that CSG and I do not make blanket recommendations. Our advice and feedback is always very specific, and often unique to that one specific case/car/individual.

Much of the information we post should be taken with that grain of salt, because there truly is no one-size-fits-all with cars.

Ok, a bit of background. The reason I'm looking for info is that I have the car booked in for another wheel alignment next Monday. My last alignment was done by someone else, and whilst I didn't have any real problems with his work or the results, I was a bit dubious that he couldn't give me a printout of the alignment, but instead, verbally gave me the results over the phone. They were as follows:

6.0 degrees castor
LF camber 4.0 degrees
RF camber 3.4 degrees
1.5mm toe out total

LR camber 2.0 degrees
RR camber 1.5 degrees
3.0mm toe in total

Ride heights (centre of wheel to u/s guard)

Front: 335mm - 13.2"
Rear: 340mm - 13.4"

I've been running 225/45/17 Hankook RS-3 tyres on Enkei 17x8 ET35 rims. The "MCA Reds" are non-inverted struts with 6kg Front springs and 5kg Rear springs. The only Whiteline bushes are the UCA inner bushes that allow for some more rear camber adjustment. All other bushes and sway bars etc are standard.

I have just bought a set of 225/45/17 Hankook Z221 tyres, but apart from the stickier compound, no other changes planned at this stage.

The car is predominately a weekend/track car, so not too concerned about a street friendly alignment. The car balance is pretty good, and the tyres to date have worn pretty evenly. However, the car does suffer a bit of mid corner and exit understeer, which I haven't been able to dial out with tyre pressure or damper adjustments.

Really just looking to dial out the front end push and make sure the new tyres wear evenly and have the right temps across the surface of the tyre. I don't actually have a pyro at the moment, but looking to buy one soon.

What? Reds are 8/9kg are they not or did you get different springs? Give Josh Coote a call and he should be able to give you some pointers on setup.(from MCA) Frankly he's got more experience setting up cars between him and his dad than pretty much this entire forum combined. That'd be my starting point.

Nope, they are 5kg rear and 6kg front. Josh tried a set of 6kg rear and 7kg front on a friends car but decided the softer set was better suited to the R spec tyres and standard bars and bushings etc.

Josh has been testing a few other things and comes to a few sprint meetings. He's also just bought himself an 86, so I'm sure we'll see him at the track a bit more. Will hit him up for some advice as well, but never hurts to hear others experience.

Yep he should be out in a personal car a fair bit now. Yeah Blues are the 5/6 I just remember the 8/9 was the Reds but that may of been another car. He does customize settings a fair bit and seeing as how Reds are custom valved for your uses they can vary. It's just a bugger they aren't sold heavily in the US. I'd really love to see what the guys over there think about them. Over here even professionals regularly request MCA suspension products. Josh really does go out of his way though.

It was pretty cool seeing the car as it was built. When I saw their car from 2015 it was a floorpan, firewall and the basic outline of the rollcage. Was one hell of a build, with everything custom made pretty much.

I remember that one year they had the top 5-6 cars running their suspension in the open class. Excellent service which really wins over the local market.

Anybody have any good measurements of hub to fender distance? I am getting aligned this week. I am on RCE tarmac 2 coilovers, Ground Control camber plates, SPC lca's. I did not install the tow bushing that the lca's came with, I am hoping I can get the toe I want without them.

I am not getting corner balanced, just going to have them set ride height.

Planning on getting around -2 to -2.5 camber square. The car is intended as a track car with autox's and drives to the mall here and there. Any input would be nice.

From my searches, I am seeing anywhere from 12 1/2 to 13 1/2". Some pictures would be nice. Corner balancing will come sometime down the road, just dont think it will make much of a difference in my skill level.

Thanks much,
CC
