The automatic without a doubt. Every car in the world sells more numbers in automatic and I don't see why this would be any different. The TC is already a bonafide girls car, just like the mustang v6 is. This car will be no different. Expect to see a million of these in your local college town sporting some stupid pink butterfly sticker on the rear window.

I say 60% AT to 40% MT myself. Seeing as a vast majority of Porsche's sold are AT's and that goes for BMW and MB. So I don't see why it would be any different for the FRS/BRZ. I mean Toyobaru does need to turn a profit on this car and let's face it our numbers aren't hardly enough to keep this car on the sales floors by ourselves. We know this and, I'm sure, the guys at Toyobaru know this too.

I remember reading an article about the manual transmission being a lot lower percentage. Most folks prefer the "conveniences" like paddle shifting, push start, electronic traction control, steering wheel-BT and radio controls and all the other .

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7...-not-dead-yet/

In the vast population of all light vehicles on U.S. roads--some 240 million in rough numbers--stick shifts account for just 12 percent today, according to Polk, the industry data-gathering firm. Automakers estimate that most are older vehicles, slowly aging out of commission, and that manuals represent a measly 5 to 7 percent of vehicle sales today.
...
"Demand for manual transmissions is shrinking for all manufacturers," says Steve Yaeger, Nissan North America Inc.'s spokesman on technology. Nissan offers manual options on many models, including the high-revving 370Z roadster

Year 1-2, 80%MT, 20%AT. Slowly ATs will take over. By year 5, it'll be 90%AT, 10%MT.

AT which IMO is a good thing because they'll be less manuals on the road and hopefully in the future these cars will command a premium like the ae86/240sx/etc.

Properly driving a manual is a dying art.

I love how you can't have the WRX in AT.

I wouldn't say "in the world" - maybe in North America. Outside the US, a lot more cars are made with manual transmissions. For example in the Philippines, where I grew up and where I've lived until 2010, it was about 90% MT 10% AT. And the traffic there was a hell of a lot worse than anywhere here in the US.

@Topic:
Personally, MT FTW! Although AT will sell more here in the US.

AT ( for sure ) because the typical driver in the US is lazy.
[[ Myself included I drive an AT ( DSG ) ... but for the BRZ I want 6SP
because I want to be involved in the process ... since its so simple
to drive the DSG there is really no need for much driver input]]

You're right maybe in some foreign countries that's not the case. But yes atleast in NA Automatic sales are something like 95% of all car sales.

I hope a bunch of girls buy the AT version because that means more sales and more profit for Toyobaru. That will make the bean counters happy. Then they could use some of that money to bring us more hardcore versions (they're already planning one new version every year).

AT outsells MT. I figure it will be 80% AT and 20% MT. From the reviews the AT a pretty good one since it is based off the IS-F, which is pretty awesome.
