maybe you can talk down the price at purchase alittle and use the money you saved for something nicer. I know it's a long shot but if you save some money use it for something you like.
and OP could try for a 10 anni FRS,if the wants the HID and LED DRL they still have those features and possibly possibly cost a little less than a BRZ limited. I have no clue if the unit in the FRS is any better. This is up in the air

I've tried this numerous times last year. I was close to having one of them uninstall the nav. but then the core group of salesman and bosses had one last meeting and concluded later on they couldn't do that at the last minute before I signing for it.
I'll see what I can try do this year.

It's just the anniversary edition that is getting the extra features, not all 2014+ models. |

I got one of these recently and i'm really liking it, so I'll probably ignore the audio system in the car anyhow lol. http://www.kenu.com/products/airframe I actually might just get a fr-s lol. $500 college discount and mostly because I'm surprised that I'm not the biggest fan of the leather in the limited O_o I guess ill keep on checking inventory until the goldie lock car arrives

I'd like to suggest following options:
1. get a FRS 2. don't use the Navi funtion and ignore the map 3. install an aftermarket unit |

I had similar feelings about the BRZ Nav screen and audio at first. It was difficult to use and took your attention away from the road too much. What I have found though, is that after driving the car daily for six months, I have become much more acclimated to how it works and am starting to actually find it to be quite sufficient.
I went through all the Nav options and made some adjustments on the setup. It is now just as good as my Garmin 1490LMT as far as graphics and decent route selections. I have yet to see a NAV unit that always selects the route I would take when I already know the roads. The key is does it adjust when it recalculates after you go a different way. For me, when I am home and know the best routes to a certain part of the metroplex, but not the exact destination, both the Garmin and the BRZ unit choose routes I would not always take. But when I have traveled out of town it has always gotten me to where I need to go without much hassle. And the Sirius/XM SatNav Traffic mode has actually helped me avoid a few bad traffic snarls. So it is not perfect by far, but I don't think (once it is set up to your preferences) it is noticeably worse than what one can buy on the aftermarket (NAV unit). Also now that the update software for the NAV unit SD card has been posted on this forum, it is easy to get the lastest firmware and maps to upgrade the unit. Now I would have preferred to have an Android unit, but at the price of this car if you need more, then it really is not that much to complain about if you have to pay to get the unit you like best. Unfortunately in my years of experience of buying new cars, I have yet to find a dealer who is willing to remove a standard equipment unit and give any credit for it towards the sale. Just the business of selling cars, I suppose. Now that I know the unit and it is very easy to use (took awhile though), what I am the most disappointed about is that the Kicker Subwoofer that is custom built for the corner of the trunk has been advertised as an accessory since the last May, and is still not available. Dealer recently told me that the prototype had problems and it went back to the design people, but still had no idea when it would be for sale. |

I think the extras on the BRZ make it worth the extra price... Just ignore the NAV. Stock HIDs, DRLs, better interior... On the Limited you get fogs, spoiler, keyless entry, start button, heated seats, heated mirrors, dual zone climate control, leather/alcantara seats... The standard NAV is just kinda there, lol
That's a lot of extras for the price. All comes down to what you think is worth it. Also, I'm glad there aren't controls on the steering wheel.... It's like with any car... Do u want the base model... Middle.... Or the top of the line of that model car? Same car, just options... |

There have been threads here of FR-S people trying to buy that nav unit. If you buy BRZ and swap out to an aftermarket unit (which is what I assume you'd do if a standard head unit were available) then there should be a used market for it.

I've used the Nav in my BRZ twice so far...and I've had the car for 3 months. I would rather have no Nav, and a nice traditional head unit with BUTTONS and a nice large display.

Speaking of the navigation system, I used it this past weekend when visiting friends in the DC metro area. Most of my round trip was spent on I-95 and only once did I encounter a "traffic jam". Yet my navigation system sounded like a broken record, over and over again, saying "heavy traffic ahead". When there was none. It did this countless times. Was starting to drive me crazy. Also makes me have no faith in it actually predicting when there is traffic.
Oh, and it couldn't find my friend's house in Arlington, VA either.
