I will be interested to see the logs on the stock tune. We have tunes waiting for it, but just have not had the time for it. Also, kind of want to see what kind of numbers we are putting down with the stock flash.

Just my .02, I suppose.

How do you find it volume-wise with that exhaust set-up? I'm really interested in the T1R exhaust but plan to go to a header at some point and don't want it to end up TOO loud.

I've also been running headers for several thousand miles, track days, etc. without a tune.

Lets not flood the forum with bad info- you don't need a tune with headers. At least, not all.

while a tune may not be required, you will not be getting the most out of your header without one.

If you don't need a tune, then your headers aren't doing much!

I've got the dyno numbers that say different. I'd love to see them with a tune as well though, some day. Track time is more important right now for me.

I just want to make sure people know that you don't "need" a tune with headers. My AFR looks good, and the headers were designed to be fine on stock tune, and it pulls nice and hard (and these were the first dyno proven headers on the forums, I might add).

No doubt you have before and after dyno runs taken on the same dyno, same day?

different days. Same exact temp and humidity though, with 6+ runs both before and after. And re-verified at yet another dyno facility operated by a 3rd party (which was all within 2hp, same kind of dyno). Check out the nameless header thread for the deets. It's all been beaten to death over there with dyno plots, pics, drive impression vids, it goes on. No need to hijack this thread to challenge someone

I see you have one of the early prototype nameless headers... no offense but those do not flow as well as the newer 4-1 long tube designs or the yet to be released nameless 4-2-1 long tube (which i am on the waiting list for). For those I believe you are correct that you don't NEED a tune because they did not change the flow / back pressure characteristics as much as the newer long tube 4-1 or 4-2-1 designs.

I still think you would notice a nice difference with a custom tune though because the stock cam timing is the way it is to work around the limitations of the stock header in the dip region.

So, to revise my opinion headers that don't flow much better than stock probably won't benefit from, or change afrs enough to warrant a custom tune.

These are equal length with 30-40% more volume (just looking at primary sizes by themselves). They flow significantly better, as evidence by the +29whp at the top end. No offense taken, just trying to clear up info- you *can* run headers without a tune. Are you leaving power on the table? yes. but it's not unsafe for the vehicle. Do the newer long tube designs flow better? Yeah. not saying that
