Even in cars with a 6 disk changer I never changed the disks. So I got tired of them, and just played FM. Then I found XM with no commercials and music selections tuned better to my tastes. Also, unless you have a really good system, I doubt there are many people that could honestly tell the difference in an FR-S at 80mph and a decent MP3 or a 256 bit AAC.
That said, I think there's lots of room to have a better audio system in the FR-S and that would make a lot more difference. But I'm not going to do that - getting the XM setup was my big goal. Given my acceptance of the level of quality of car and audio system, the only thing that really annoys me in the base radio now is that there are so few characters for artist/song etc. Naked and Famous's song Punching in a Dream looks like 'Naked and Punching I'! Well, that's not completely true - I still have no idea why I can't get station/artist/song etc. from FM radio stations unless they are one of the few HD Radio broadcasters. Edit: just for kicks I googled the 256AAC vs. CD and found a long thread arguing the nuances - although not in the noisy and cacophonous environment of our little cars, and played with maybe slightly higher quality components ($5000 CD player? Really?) - http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f8...ac-vs-cd-9005/ Last edited by Joxer; 04-24-2013 at 05:25 PM. Reason: added info |

Crap! If my car would've had that head unit, I would've saved some money. Main reason for me to change the head unit was that the factory unit was ugly as hell...
BTW I installed a Kenwood DDX419. Good audio quality. Lots of features. Good price. |

This unit looks better than the stock base stereo in the 2013 FRS.
But honestly, the aftermarket options are too easy, cheap, good, and OEM-looking for the FRS to not go aftermarket. I am very happy with my Pioneer AVH-x8500bhs, which retains CD/DVD, has 2 USB inputs, 1 SD card reader, HDMI, and has AppRadio that is passable for a BeSpoke-like or better Nav solution. The colors on the unit is easily adjustable to match the red/orange of the FRS interior. Bluetooth works great and delivers more power to the speakers than stock (but really if you get this unit you probably want to go with aftermarket amp/speakers/sub). |

Yes, I'm old. In case you were wondering, Genesis is wrong. God did not rest on the seventh day because I was there to point out where he could make improvements. Son of a gun wouldn't listen to me about the damn mosquitoes though. |

We should be able to exchange it. They make you think BEspoke has nav but I ve never been able to get it to work once.
Can anyone offer up any suggestions or is that feature just scrap?
